Go Pro advice wanted

My missus has decided she quite fancies a Go Pro for our upcoming trip that will include some rafting and her doing para gliding.

There seems to be about a million different options and loads of cheaper alternatives but this is totally new to me.

I was thinking the Go Pro Hero 5 Black would meet our needs but would the 6 be a better, if quite a bit more expensive option? Also any advice on accessories or bundles to get would be great.

Cheers

They both seem to have voice control, which might sound like a gimmick at first but you'll probably use it a lot.

Other than that, whether it's worth the extra ££ is down to you - this seems to be the main thing -
Visually, the two models are identical, with a ruggedised rubber exterior, built-in waterproofing to 10m, dual mics.

'5' - 4K @ 30fps / 720p @ 240fps;
'6' - 4K @ 60fps / 1080p @ 240fps.

Cheers. Doesn't look like the extra expense would be worth it for us.

I upgraded from a 4 to a 6 recently. The main thing for me was that the 6 has video stabilisation which I think is vital. The 5 has it too but I think the 6 has it at higher resolutions including 4k/30.

I personally think it is worth getting the 6 but I got mine for £300 from Hong Kong.

If you're a casual user, I'd say that £60 for something similar to the <a data-source="forums" data-type="Amazon UK - AKASO EK7000 4K Sport Action Camera Ultra HD Camcorder 12MP WiFi Waterproof Camera 170 Degree Wide View Angle 2 Inch LCD Screen W/2.4G Remote Control/2 Rechargeable Batteries/19 Accessories Kits (Black)" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... dforums-21" class="affiliatelink">AKASO EK7000 4K Sport Action Camera</a> is better value for money.

Use it in 1080p mode and you get decent performance for frame rate and good visuals. I've used it extensively for family days out and have appreciated the extra few hundred quid I haven't spent on a GoPro.

One of<a data-source="forums" data-type="Amazon UK - AKASO Accessories Kit for GoPro Hero/AKASO Vemont Victure APEMAN VicTsing WIMIUS ODRVM Bopower Action Camera, Accessory Bundle with Chest Strap/Suction Cup/Bike Mount/Anti-fog Inserts" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... dforums-21" class="affiliatelink">these</a> accessories kits has a floating handle, plus a range of mounts etc to fit to helmets.

Use a separate tether unless you want to end up potentially losing it like I did years ago!

I found it again and it made a cool YT vid :) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM0FDvas7bc

Thanks guys, The cheaper one looks good but I suspect my missus will want the 'big name brand' so I think it will be GoPro. I'll be keeping an eye on the Amazon weekend offers to see if one pops up on there.

Cheers

GoPro Hero7 Black arrived yesterday.

Will post an update when I finally get to test it.

Never had a GoPro before, so should be an interesting experience!
