4 Brambling under the feeders this morning, hoped they might turn up at some point in the winter but didn't expect them now.

I haven't posted on here for a while so thought I'd share a couple of Pine Marten images from Yellowstone.

Image
Nikon D3s, 70-200 VR

Image
Nikon D7000, 600mm, ISO 1600 (no NR)

These were taken during a fantastic day at the log cabin of photographer Dan Hartman and his wife Cindy, right by Cooke City. Very nice people and an amazing experience to see Pine Martens up close! For those interested there is a write behind the images, as well as plenty more images on my blog here.

Fantastic shots silverpenguin7. I really like the detail of the fur and snow flakes in the second shot :)

Thanks for the nice comments all :)

Here's another for you! Managed to get my first decent Hare encounter for some time down at Elmley Marsh on monday. This one was near the barn, so we were able to get down on the floor and spend 20 minutes inching towards it in the gorgeous glow of the late afternoon sun.

I was also field testing the Nikon TC-20EIII for the first time, so it was good to see how it performed on the 600 VR as most people only seem to talk about it's performance on the f2.8 lenses. For those interested in the 2x TC or thinking about buying, you can read my initial field test thoughts here.

Bit of a crop shot but caught this lil critter while out random shooting the other night, odds on if I was trying to capture a Bat in flight I would not have managed anything as good as this :)

one of 3 Hornets this pm on a log pile I was sawing up, must be nest building nearby, never seen them actually getting bark/wood before.

Spotted Flycatchers are back early & nest building already, spent an hour watching this morning and caught what I presumed was courtship display (lots of wing flicking and odd movement) but turned into a very aggressive fight...

That's soo cool! Will have to check my 'spot' for them in case they're back here.

Just come back from a week in a cottage near Minsmere in Suffolk and it was absolutely astounding for wildlife, far better than I dared to hope! Haven't sorted many photos out yet and many are just distant record shots but here's a few I've picked out so far:

Image
Four Spotted Chaser

Image
Wild Red Deer at Minsmere

Image
Green Hairstreak butterfly

Image
The famous escaped Greater Flamingo back at Minsmere's Scrape - was featured on the local news on Thursday.
