^ It's a shame there appear to be so many anti-wokers marking that down. (I've just spent a minute upvoting all the positive reviews!)

Only 2nd time at 99p - sounds woo-woo, but this is 100% science-based non-profit.

<a data-source="forums" data-type="Amazon UK" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tal.fix-21" class="affiliatelink">The Battle for Scotland - by Andrew Marr</a> - First time cheap, now just 99p.
This an account of the distinctive story of Scottish politics, from the collapse of Liberalism, the rise of radical Labour and of the Scottish National Party, to more recent Tory rule and the complexities of contemporary nationalism. The Scottish question is unlikely to go away, whether it is a clamour for devolution or independence. This book aims to answer a number of questions - could Scotland survive economically without England?; where does the fervour for Scottish home rule come from?; and what would a Scottish parliament mean for the Scot in the street?

In The Battle for Scotland, first published in 1992, Andrew Marr provides the historical backdrop to these extraordinary events. He attempts to explain the deep sources of Scottish national feeling and the political will which brought us to this deeply uncertain time.

In a substantial introduction written before 2014's referendum, Marr considers the questions every voting Scot (and every non-voting UK citizen) were asking themselves at the time.

I could have sworn that I'd already got this, but no signs in my library ... - Amazon doesn't play silly buggers, does it ?

Sure, I'd done that, and searched my Paperwhite - nothing.

Then I remembered reading that Amazon can occasionally remove books without warning.

Now I've just remembered ... I read the actual paperback version of this - such a rare event! (It had been left behind in a hotel - such an unusual holiday poolside read!)

Great book that runs through various positive trends out there. Data rich but easy to read, kickstarted me off on a few threads to go and look up myself and talking it through with the family had them all interested in reading it in turn (kids 14-17 at time).
