Post by Masanevre »

Welcome

Looking for some inspiration what to do to kick start the party. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thinking of you

Please no Cards Against Humanity.

If you want something in the same vein that actually requires some creativity, I'd consider Funemployed! ( https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/142296/funemployed ). Be aware it's one of those games where you and the family would better be drunk as there will be some ... interesting job applications. :)

Other suggestions for family friendly party games are:

- Cash 'n Guns is quite a bit of fun. You are all mafiosis trying to accumulate the most loot while getting to point foam guns at the other players. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/155 ... nd-edition
- Codenames or Codenames Pictures. 2 teams compete to be the first to uncover all the spies from the other side. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/178900/codenames
- The Resistance is a classic, but always good. easy to grasp and works well with last groups. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41114/resistance
- One Night Ultimate Werewolf (though it can fall flat with some groups if nobody tries and chat about it at the end). https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/147 ... e-werewolf
- If you want a simpler card game that everybody can learn, which is surprisingly fun and which can play up to 8, I'd recommend Fuji Flush. It sounds too simple to be fun, and yet it's awesome. It plays up to 8 and is better the bigger the group. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/203430/fuji-flush

Others like Dixit and Mysterium are awesome but are more limited group size wise and are also quieter. Not as good a fit for party games.

There are many others. Hard to make a list without knowing what type of game you'd prefer.

I'd be guessing he doesn't mean board games when says he's looking for New Year party games.

You might indeed be right. But as it was posted in the boardgames forum specifically, I guessed it wouldn't hurt to answer with actual party boardgames.

I really don't know best as much about regular party games beyond charades. :)
