Is it a scripted drama or like a Grand Tour type, seemed odd from the trailer?

Imagine a twenty-minute segment from The Grand Tour, used as a filler, but stretched out for six episodes. :|

Given that I gave up after one episode is it worth persevering or are the remainder just as poor?

It's just old Top Gear by a different name. It's interesting but I wouldn't drop what you're doing to make time to watch it.

Well, 'old top gear' was three guys bumbling along in clapped out old vehicles getting from point A to point B in a comical fashion. The humour in part was in whether they'd get there and how much car was left.
As mentioned previously - it would have been more entertaining to watch how they built/designed the various things rather than scripted nonsense of crabs coming in the night and stealing their coconuts*.

*Exaggerated nonsense I made up. Ignore me.

That one felt the closest to an old school (okay mid 2000’s) Top Gear they got in a long time.

Overlong as usual, but with some fun stuff in there & the muscle cars were beautiful. As ever with these things, they didn't know how to end it. The bridge bit was great, but the last five minutes was just, 'Eh?' Not quite sure what the punchline was supposed to be saying & it finished on a completely damp squib.

They all look really old now, & Clarkson's never looked fatter than he did while doing a hot lap in his pimpmobile.

Looks like old school TG, & much lower budget than previous specials which can only be a good thing...

In the meantime, the Hamster's latest solo series, Richard Hammond's Workshop is currently running on Discovery+. Documenting his efforts to set up a classic car restoration business, it's very entertaining stuff.
