Best tablet for around £150

Looking to replace the kids Amazon Fire tablets, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

Want to move away from the Fires as had real problems with them.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07916ZH..._2y4cDb13PYV0P

Not sure if these would be ok - must be able to lock down via parent controls, or at least restrict purchasing.

TIA

Rob

Can you stretch your budget another £70? Get ipads from eglobal

https://www.eglobalcentraluk.com/app...fi-tablet.html

I've tried other tablets, Samsung, Amazon, Cheapos, absolutely nothing compares to an ipad for quality. All my ipads are still going strong.

I've ordered two from them, used the basic shipping. They turn up after about a week admittedly with a foreign plug and an adaptor. But they're legit and if you have any problem you go to Apple.

I have one for the little one for the "free" content. Content is good but my god compared to an iPad they suck

Worst problem is the thing lights up the screen by itself, draining the battery. Can't find any way of fixing it. lots of complaints on line about it too.

Reliability - Both kept rejecting memory cards (tried multiple sandisk cards - all brand new). Each time the tablets were switched on, we had to unmount the cards and then remount them for them to be recognised.

I returned one of the Fires to Amazon and got a replacement, and the same thing happened with that as well.

Told Amazon support and they just passed it off as 'one of those things'.

I moved from iPads to my Sony Android tablet, never looked back!

Great screen, great speed, and it takes a memory card - As well as being able to just plug the tablet itself directly into my PC and drag/drop files. Dead easy, great bit of kit.

Got 3 Amazon Fires in the house and not had any problems with any of them. Also have lots of mates with Android tablets who have no complaints either.

Not an Apple fan by any means but the hype they often get over other equally as impressive ( if not more ) Android products - which are often far far cheaper - is ridiculous. In this day and age, even with cloud storage, tying yourself to a product that restricts the amount of local storage you have is just total nuts.

Sorry I've never seen a decent android tablet with the quality of an apple product, I've tried samsung and amazon. Is there something I should check out? I haven't really looked in a few years

You probably need to look harder.

There is nothing, IMHO, in say an iPad that justifies the extra £200+ cost compared to the Samsung/Fire.

Similarly for phones ... plenty of Android phones are equal to/exceed the iPhone and at a fraction of the cost.

I have the Lenovo Tab 8 Plus with 4GB ram and 64BG storage (plus memory card), unfortunately this model doesn't exist now.

What you can still buy is the 3GB and 16GB storage version that's available with or without smart assistant speaker here for under £150.

Great tablet, my other half has the 3GB version.

The quality, the feel of them, the fact that they hold their value. Can't see why you say £200 more expensive. My link has them for £217

Both Huawei and Samsung produce premium tablets that rival the build quality of a iPad and exceed it but a new iPad will always out perform them in sheer CPU/GPU speed.

Exceed the build quality of an iPad Pro? I'd doubt that, the new ones are incredibly well made.
