Exchange / 365 email forwarding block

Is it an option for admins to prevent users from setting up automatic email forwarding for an Outlook 365/Exchange server email account? And if so, are there any user workarounds?

Within my work 365 email, I can manually forward emails, but if I set up an automatic rule, and make sure I check all the right settings, etc, no emails get forwarded. As if there is a server/admin block. I don't get any errors. And the rule setup for forwarding looks like it used to - nothing is greyed out. But it doesn't function.

And if a block is a thing, are there any macro functions I can set up to replicate email forwarding, to bypass that block?

You could probably use MS Flow to get around a forwarding rule block.

well, it would be pretty useless to be able to block it, then have a work around!

why would you want to forward if it's a work email? Just use the outlook client on your mobile devices.

There's also the security issue - depending on what job you have and what you do, especially with regards to GDPR nowadays, it's usually frowned upon to forward work emails to non work addresses.
