Question OSX Mac Mail - Wrong Name

This is a bit of an odd one but I've noticed that when I type my email address in the "To:" field that it shows the wrong name next to the email address:

HTML Code:
Wrong Name <name@email.co.uk>
Whereas it should be:

HTML Code:
Correct Name <name@email.co.uk>
I first noticed this today on an email I received, which had "
HTML Code:
Wrong Name <name@email.co.uk>
" next to the "To:" address.

The name it has replaced mine with was actually someone new that I emailed a few days ago. Before that I'd never seen or used their name.

I'm not sure why Mac Mail is now associating their name with my email account?

I don't think this is stopping emails coming in or going out and I assume when people receive emails from me it will either show my correct name or just my correct email address.

I've checked my contacts and can't see anything odd there or in my email accounts.

Has anyone else come across this before?

Many thanks,

Psycho

Check your contacts. See if something got added there that has your email but a different name?

Thanks. I can't see anything odd in my contacts - I don't really use or set up contacts, other than phone numbers of my iPhone, which seems to sync with my iMac.

The only thing I did spot was that when I searched for my email address or the wrong name associated to my email address with my Contacts or Spotlight on my iMac I got some results listed as "Siri found in app" - I have now turned this off on my iPhone. Maybe that was the problem?

I'll have a look at the Previous Recipients list in Mac Mail as well.

Cheers.
