Resident evil 2 remake (Multi-format)

Capcom have really turned the RE series around with RE7 and now the remake of 2, this looks amazing, the person playing in the video is rubbish. In this remake it has more of control scheme from 4 but updated for 2018. its out jan 2019 (shame its not sooner)

some new info

Quote:
Two things on that point, though: for one, this isn’t the action hero romps of Resi 4, 5, or 6 – this is a survival horror title. Ammunition is scarce, and valuable. Firing a gun isn’t an absolute luxury, but it is the kind of thing you need to genuinely consider before doing – avoidance is a valid strategy, and the tension this can create is another great element harking back to the original.

Second, when you do start firing, you bear witness to some of the most disgustingly brilliant damage mapping we’ve yet seen. Bullets tear into zombies, ripping holes in them dynamically and revealing flesh and musculature below. It’s absolutely disgusting, in the best way, and you’ll be in the same boat as us if you waste a fair few bullets just seeing what sort of damage pattern you can create on an undead police officer.

The less said about what the shotgun can do to reanimated faces up close, or what the delightful tease of a Licker shows the player – and lingers on – the better. For you. We don’t want to ruin the gory surprise, after all.

The Resident Evil 2 remake looks like it’s on the right path to reinvent the original classic while at the same time making something completely new – that’s also great fun to play. We’re getting the whole of the original game, and as we’ve heard on the grapevine it will also include all the extras from the original – including Hunk and Tofu, no less.

Sounds exactly what a RE2 remake should be

It's sounding very promising indeed. Here's hoping for Resi 4's inventory tetris as well.

Claire gameplay

Capcom are doing a great job with RE2, capcom might do a remake of 3 if it sells well

New video, they have really made the game faithful to the original but with more modern controls. Recently played through evil within 2 but its pale copy of the true RE games. (Just need a spiritual successor to silent hill games now and not the western made ****)

It's pretty much a guaranteed purchase for me, so I'm gonna try to be patient and ignore it.

Just completed the demo in 24 minutes and its really good. Feels like faithful RE2 game without changing what made the game so good but its modern (makes sense if you watch the video or play the demo) The game is like the RE remake, familiar but new content. They didn't turn into flavour of the month or all out shooter. Heard bad things it running on base consoles but no problems on xbox one

Shame its one play at 30 minutes max, its stupid move by capcom as you feel you need to get through it (although I did a bit of exploring) You can create loads of gamertags but you shouldn't have to

I pre-ordered it on a good deal so there seems little point in trying the demo at this stage. Glad to hear the pre-order wasn't wasted though

I get the one-shot thing but 30mins was way to short for me. I was playing it slowly as I normally would and pretty sure I got nowhere (assuming the goal was to collect the 3 medallions).

I've downloaded it for PC so will take another crack later.

Thoughts so far are that it plays great and looks excellent 'in-game'. The cut scenes looked really cheap to me though. I was quite surprised tbh (not really watched the trailers) - the facial animation in particular was **** poor really by today's standards. The modelling wasn't great either.

With the facial animation and character models, while not the most cutting edge, I think capcom didn't want to put a lot of money behind the project as I think they saw it as a 50/50 risk. Still loads better than the awful looking Revelations 2. The more money they shove into the product, the more they have to make it for the casual gamer, could of ended like those awful raccoon city games or that awful recent - umbrella chronicles?

I think the one shot demo is awful idea as you can't take it all in, never found the medallions (not sure if you can) or find the shotgun as you want to see all of the demo. If they wanted a limited demo they should of have it playable for X amount of days. The fact PC gamers are doing a crack to get around the time limit says a lot

Played through it again on PC and managed to finish it this time. It's a pretty big demo really just squeezed in to a short play time. I like it. It feels modern but faithful to the original. Wooden barricades and gunpowder mixing are the only new mechanics and both seem to fit well in that space / time management that the early RE games are all about.

Is it a standalone section, or a part of the full game?
