He's wearing the Emperor's New Clothes and is making as much money as possible before he gets found out.

He sent a very detailed and lengthy application for the job. His CV and Powerpoint presentation were amazing.

Sunday. The Sky game (so I'll 'pop in' to my parents who happen to have Sky Sports...).
Quietly confident for some reason. Think we might nick it 1-0 or something. He'll get it right (surely?!!).

Did our best to let Reading back in there but I think at 3-0 we can almost relax

Yeah a bit too relaxed as usual.
Do you think someone told them football is only played over 85 minutes ?
Great to see Defoe get a couple and some promising play from Dembele, at least in the first half.
Bale, frustrating as ever but at least his kick into the ground went in
Naughton looked a bit dodgy early on but Reading barely posed a threat overall, so probably just the right team to play against to get the three points finally.

Wonder if we should give Oscar Pistorius a go a right wing? He's fast & his ball control probably isn't any worse...

Glad we finally got a win which should hopefully relieve a bit of pressure after a less than impressive start (points wise). Apart from the Norwich game I think we have played quite well but just haven't got the ball in the net enough unfortunately.
Our shape was much better today with Dembele in place of Livermore, not that he is necessarily a better player (although he is) but is more important in that position for forward play.

It was ok, but Reading were barely league two standard

Pretty decent performance to be fair, created plenty of chances, Defoe is looking keen already and it's great to see him starting games at last. Thought Vertongen had a really sturdy game at the back today and looked comfortable on the ball when coming forward.
Glad to see AVB using a positive formation for a change, let's hope he sticks with it for Lazio and QPR at home.

Presumably Lloris and Adebayor will be starting as will a couple of the fringe players? I can't see it being a 2011/12 Europa League style team with all first teamers not playing.

Yeah, hope we take it a lot more seriously this time (think AVB will tbh). Could see Dempsey, Hudd, possibly Dawson, etc but still a very strong team.

I'd like to see Caulker and Townsend given a go from the start as I think they will have a lot to give this season with Gallas and Lennon being very susceptible to bouts of injury.
Sounds like BAE might be out for a month, not necessarily a bad thing IMO as he doesn't really have any competition at LB so this should give someone else a chance to stake their claim. Vertonghen may be a better option than Naughton but that would leave a gaping hole in CB.

Great performance. I think they're now ready to take on the campfire Brownies All Star Under 15's.

Excellent, hopefully you'll still be eligible to play for them by the time the fixture is arranged.
