Tottenham Hotspur 08/09 Part 2 - The 'arry era has begun!!

So two old boys playing against their original clubs - Modric and Corluka and Dinamo Zagreb.....I wonder if they are regretting their moves!?

Oops, don't blame me for living in the past

There is still plenty of time to turn the season around so I don't think he should be sacked at this moment however something needs to happen very soon.

Corluka can't play against Zagreb as he's cup tied. Same with Pav against Spartak. Bloody typical!

Rumours about Comolli getting the bullet (not literally) - think that's the best move right now tbh, although I'd like to see the position of Sporting Director gone altogether. We don't need one and it's basically not worked.

Let Ramos choose his players and get the club officials to sort out the deals like they do at, well, pretty much any other club!

I'd give Ramos the rest of this season - unless we're still bottom 3 at Xmas maybe - and see what he can do during January and over the Summer, if Comolli goes.

I think the match against stoke is going to define our season, If we don't win I don't see us finishing in the top half. It's crazy being a spurs fan.

It comes to something when I'm worried about losing or not winning at Stoke.

I just don't see us winning...

from what I've seen they're very very poor but I don't trust our defence against their constant route 1 attacks.

And I still can't see where our goals are coming from, particularly without the main target man type

And I won't talk about the midfield today...

We didn't finish in the top half for most of the 80s and 90s - often flirting with relegation for most of each season. This is nothing new - just a return to normality. The only difference being that we used to have a team with flair that played attractive football and lost. Now we just lose.

You know you are in trouble when all the pundits are saying you will lose against Stoke! Trouble is I agree and the only way out of it is to get some backbone. If we sit back and let them bombard our area we will crumble. Time for Modric to show why he is worth all this money

Well, it's time for Modric to be played in the right position!

Could probably do with two defensive/strong midfielders behind him - not just Zokora. Maybe have Zokora and Huddlestone with Modric in front of them. Assuming Bent will be up front on his own, you could have Lennon/Bentley/whoever as the two wide men behind him.

Oh, I dunno. Ramos will probably surprise/disappoint again...

Off the top of my head I would say we finished top half at least 2 out of 3 seasons for that period.

Edit
Don't know how accurate these figures are as it's an unofficial site but I wasn't far out:

Mostly mid table and that doesn't show how we flirted with relegation for the bulk of the season in many cases

Thinking about the formation is madness as Ramos will come up with something that noone could predict!

I think we will come away with 3 points in style

Apparantly Hutton is back in contention for Sunday. That'll sure up the defence a bit. King may play unless Ramos is saving him for Thursday.

This game is a must win for Ramos methinks

We need to find a team mentality, and get people playing in their best positions, rather than trying to fit in the supposed best players in whatever position is vacant.

We are lightweight, and cant afford to weaken ourselves further by experimenting in the hope something will work.

We need a system, and we need to play those who can fit in with it.

The obvious problem we're going to have is scoring goals, and you would have hoped those in charge might have noticed that when selling three 20 goal a season players.
