hunts - I am pretty sure he is LB
Sure Gunter played right back for Cardiff and Wales, think he has played on left side but normally he plays right back.

LUKA TO THE LANE
The Club is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for the transfer of Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric.

Personal terms have been agreed with the player and he will now undertake a medical and apply for a work permit.

Ł20m, WOW.

Edit,

being reported 15.8m

This is a good signing, and the type of quality we need. A couple more like this, and maybe Berbatov will stay.

This (like Hutton and Woodgate) is an excellent signing. Top 4 standard. Does this signal an end to the mass buying of squad players, concentrating instead on fewer but higher quality players?

We'll almost certainly replace Robinson and could still do with a proper left winger. Does this signal the end for Jenas? Surely Modric will play with a 'sitter' like Hudd or Zokora.

Be very interesting to see which first team players leave. Robinson plus maybe Dawson, maybe Lennon? Probably Bent if we get a sensible offer.

Jesus - really wasn't expecting that! Saw a bit on SSN as I woke up but assumed they were just telling us about Modric, not that he'd signed for anyone.

Really, really need a creative midfielder so that's a great start to the summer spend.

/edit - the kind of signing to persuade Berbs to hang around? May need one or two more but imagine Modric laying the passes for Berbs to finish!

Also, reading up on him, Dinamo Zagreb play a 4-2-3-1 formation. Wonder if that'd work for us, with Berbs up front with Modric, Keane and A.N.Other behind. You could have Hudd and Zokora (or better) in front of the back 4.

.....and I thought Liverpool signed all the ugly players!

Just got back from the match, and got to say that you guys should have annihilated them! There must have been about 20+ shots on target, against Notlob's 1 or 2. A very very fortunate goal put them ahead in the 1st few mins of the 2nd half, then it was back to all spurs again.....it wouldn't surprise me if Spurs had over 80% possession.

Modric is a great signing, a very hefty price to live up to though but I suppose if you want the best players then you have to pay the best prices (although where was that logic with Bent?)

I saw the last 20 mins of yesterdays game. How on earth did we not win??

Played some good stuff, and had some great chances.

Saw the match on MOTD, does anyone know what happened with Hutton when the team came out for the second half?

Suposedly he injured himself towards the end of the first half but thought he'd be able to play one. He wasn't.

So any info on our new signing then?

At the end of the 1st half he was running for the ball into the corner, attempted to stop the ball going out for a goal kick, and ended up over the hoardings and into someone's wheelchair. He was limping when he came back from the dissabled section, so assume it was to do with that.

His shin went straight into the concrete step.

So how good is this Modric? Had a look at some clips on Youtube and he seems to like to shoot from the edge of the box which is a good thing. Is he top 4 material and gonna propel us there or another Sergei Rebrov? Any more suggestions for signings as we still need a quality left winger. I would love Gamst Pederson
