I've got a Sony RDR-GX300 DVD recorder which has been great until recently. It has now started making a loud vibrating noise when playing some discs - it sounds as though the disc is out of balance as it spins. At first I thought it was a fluke with a rental disc, but lately I'm noticing it more and more, with discs which play normally on other players. Note that the discs do actually play, even though mechanically it's making an infernal racket.
Is there anything I can do about it, or is it simply a case of chucking it and buying a new one? I gather that internally there's not much to fix as the tray and optics are sealed in a box much like (and often exactly like) a desktop burner.
