MP3 player recomendations

Anyone still use a separate device for listing to mp3's these days? If so can you recommend one as my trusty old Sony is on its last legs.

What I need

Capacity more than 16GB with a card slot
FM Radio
Screen to see album covers as pictures are easy to recognize that text without my glasses on
Decent battery life or quick recharge time
Less than £125

Thanks in advance

The sector completely collapsed. It's kept alive by no-name Asian brands, presumably because there's still a market in Taiwan or something.

Sony are the only brand still doing them with any enthusiasm AFAIK.

I loved my Zen but was never someone who could be arsed with ripping CDs or downloading so streaming has been a godsend.

Sandisk still do the Clip which used to be quite well regarded I think. Never used one though as I'm still rocking an ancient Samsung MP3 Player so haven't tried anything more recent.

Oddly just dug out a sansa clip over the weekend - normally use a standalone mp3 for holidays (I've a couple of cheap stick aaa battery ones). The music is fine - can be a bit quiet but I think there were various hacks. The Clip is 20-25 on Amazon - with 8gb built in a SD slot.

Also check out supermarket and curry's normally have odd ones in stock or if you feeling very flush Affiliated Link

I can recommend AGPTEK players, they do Clip style players all the way to walkman style ones and they are not very expensive and easy to come by on Amazon.

Crazy idea... Why not just use your phone?

(Or get a cheap Android one.)

I managed to crash my ipod nano last weekend. Had to wait until its battery flattened. I was put out at having to use my phone for the task! I have a small phone (it has 'compact' in it's name) but it was still several times the size and weight of what i needed for the task at hand.

I do like to have a separate dedicated device for my music listening

It's a tossup between trying to snag and iPOD touch on eBay or getting an AGPtek H50

The AGPtek does not have a radio but does have a card slot.

iPOD has radio etc but no card slot. (plus I've never owned any Apple products before and I'm note sure if I want to start now)

Decisions decisions

The only apple product I own and have ever owned is the ipod nano. It's very good. But playing music isn't exactly a challenging task these days so it's hard to imagine others can't do it as well, much cheaper.

Sansa clip is great little player, fantastic sound, battery lasts ages between charges and it's tiny and light. Doesn't do cover art, text only but does have micro SD slot and fm radio.

I've had one for about ten years, use it every day and it cost £20 when I got it.

I have one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/XDUOO%C2%AE.../dp/B017K9XVX6

pretty poor native firmware, but Rockbox transforms it

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/rock...uoo-x3.803844/

It has two micro SD slots

What about the Cowon M2? £109 delivered from Advanced MP3 Players.

32GB.
Expansion slot.
Screen (also plays videos).
FM radio.
Long battery life.
Small size.

Only drawback seems to be a clunky UI.

I have its predecessor, the D2, which I really like.

Thanks for the recommendations, the SONY NW A45 is by no means perfect but ticks my major boxes Card slot, radio and large screen to be able to see album art and text without my specs. and thanks the the 10% off code in the bargain section made it even better option.

The Clip would be my go to for taking on holiday though and is worthy of consideration.

I just could not bring myself to buy the ipod

Thanks again

Another vote for the clip. If on initial set up you set the region to all region (or non-uk i think) it removed the volume limiter to play a bit louder.

SONY NW A45 also plays Flac 192kHz / 24bit if that means anything to ya.
