Thanks very much, I appreciate the support.
Hope you enjoy it, but either way, come back and tell me what you think - I'm more than happy to take a bit of feedback both positive and negative.

I had a meeting in London today so the travelling time was a good opportunity to start reading your book. About 40% of the way through and enjoying it so far!

Thanks Taq, good to hear. Just got in from the airport to see City getting dumped out of the cup, so at least you cheered me up a bit!

Finished it! I really enjoyed it. It felt very much like an opening chapter - do you have plans to write others in the series? Gooch reminded me a bit of Shadwell from Weaveworld.

I'll sort out a review on Goodreads in the near future - unfortunately I can't put a review up on Amazon as they might consider it a review swap and delete it.

Thanks Taq, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I plan to tell the complete story over a trilogy. I understand about the Amazon review, best not to tempt fate, but yes, a Goodreads review would be nice.

The only comment I do have is that the cover didn't really connect me with the 'young adult adventure' of the content.

Fair comment. Serves me right for grabbing it from Pixabay - I just thought that it suited the tone of the story. Still struggling with whether it's a true YA or a mystery that has teenage protagonists.

Thanks very much. I've never heard of them - is that a group I should be looking to join?

It's not the most active of groups, but everyone there is usually helpful and friendly.

Nothing to do with the book, but I've put a report and some photos from our family visit to Seville last weekend. (No, it was nothing to do with Manchester United playing there - pure coincidence - I am a City fan after all!).

Sorry, not sorted my review out yet - will try and get it done by the end of the week.

No problem. I'm becoming more relaxed about the whole sales/review thing.

Not had many sales recently, although advertising does work ... sort of. You may have noticed my book in a large number of tweets this week. I paid £33 for the BooksGoSocial St Patrick's Day promotion - seemed decent value: tweets every day for a week, place on the website etc. Anyway, I sold two copies in one day, but that was it in total. I hadn't sold any for about 10 days before that, so it must have had an impact. Just over 50p in royalties for a £33 spend - I wouldn't win businessman of the year!

Getting on with Book #2 and enjoying getting back to writing instead of all this promotional guff!

Sounds pretty similar to my experiences with BGS Twitter spamming. It either seems to work well or not at all, and is very genre dependent. If it doesn't work the reason given always seems to be 'the cover' or 'the blurb'. My worst experience with them was a full page advert in their writers' conference programme where I saw nothing at all for my £80. Quite a few people were pretty angry over their return as well (ie zero).
They will supply a chart of click rates if you ask them, which can be handy in working out what may be the issue (although half the clicks may well be bots).

I agree, writing is certainly more fun!

Just don't pay for click farms, they're kind of easy to spot...
