Think the other two SUV's would have been rather useless at proper off-roading which is why they did not try.

Very good episode the clunky launch control aside. They need something to occupy the 5 minutes that occupies along with celebrity brain crash.

Definitely a lot better than the first episode in Scotland. I was okay with the launch control bit since they kept it short-ish, unlike Hammond with the doughnuts earlier in the series which carried on far too long through the episode.

I do think the audience interaction is cringey though "best roads in the world" = *audience goes crazy* :/ but far less bad than the previous episode or the two in America.

Last one next week!

And it finished with it's earliest shot material, ironically probably some of the best. Electric Car Infrastructure really needs improving nationwide.

Such a bland end to the series

Quite liked it, but it was a bit of a whimper. Fair play to Hammond mind, he was 1 cone away from storming that. Impressive skills.

Does it? Or are they making a joke like they did on Top Gear? I just don't see they're advanced enough for driving long journeys, I can't see why you'd want to sit at a services for an hour every 120 miles, you'd never get anywhere

I thought the first segment was pretty funny, had me chuckling with some classic silliness anyway.

Caught the coming soon trailer for top gear last night,
Interesting to see how they change and adapt, quite liked Leblanc and hope Chris Harris does feature more

That last episode was like a solid mid-run Top Gear episode. No "The American" which was a bonus. They actually made use of the location this time! 1900 BHP in that 4x4 Visually the atmosphere was better with it being evening outside. Danny Ric and May's subsequent clean up actually raised a smile this time.

Overall I'd say this series was a 6.5 / 10. "The American" needs replacing with something else that's either funny, or just with a racing driver that drives well but isn't anonymous, and doesn't try to be "funny." The sucking up to some of the audiences needs to stop, it's absolutely utterly cringe-worthy - particularly both US episodes and the first one in Scotland. They need to realise that just because they don't have the BBC in their ear telling them not to do something, doesn't mean it's entertaining (e.g. the desert episode, eco cars, weighing a car against a stack of animal carcasses, or the cunning May launching his car into the harbour )

That sounds more negative then I intended, but overall I was surprised they left some bits in - and ideally they should have sacrificed an episode and cut a couple of the worst films to keep the quality level up. There have been some really genuinely great bits and I'd much rather have it than not.

Here's the trailers for those that haven't seen then:

Agree it looks promising with Matt, Chris H and Rory. Not sure when it's back on... reckon it's too soon to start a thread?

It was a good ep, one of the most unrehurst, good to see Hammond being himself(mostly) for once.

I just hope the May comes out of his little script bubble next season.

Hammond's had another crash...

Doesn't sound quite as bad as first thought but sounds nasty either way.
