The Grand Tour (2016)

Good ep this week, the Mustang piece didn't outstay its welcome, the annual Christmas gadgets piece was silly as always and May's GT40 bit was excellent.

Yeah, good episode. I'd watch that every week.

Very good episode, felt much more as it should be.

Although I'm not sure how the Mustang got the time it did, when it started it was 12pm according to the dash, half way round it was 3pm

Best episode so far, I actually fast forwarded through parts of the previous two.

I had genuinely lost faith after the last few episodes, but this was episode was what I hoped The Grand Tour would be from the start. (Honestly I doubt I would have watched it this side of Christmas without the positive comments on here.)

The Le Mans section was absolutely beautiful and genuinely interesting, Mustang section was fun, and gone was all the over-acting and dumbed-down stuff from previous episodes. Christmas section was a good laugh too.

Carry on like this, please... exactly like this.

Yeah, much better. The worst bit of this series though is definitely Hammond. He seems to be more of a bellend than usual and believes his own hype.

Liked this episode a lot, so was this a Christmas Special or not? Will there be a proper one?

Hammond's bit about ice cream being gay was unnecessary, seemed to be trying to offend people for the sake of it. I wonder if that was in there mainly because they knew the BBC would cut such a "joke."

I think they said they weren't doing one due to BBC copyright (but I always took those claims with a grain of salt ) I wouldn't be surprised to see a road trip episode either at New Year at the end of the series. Hopefully, as some of those were incredible.

I really hope they can keep to the standard they've just set themselves, it's the only episode so far I'd make a point of going back to watch again. Perhaps they've realised they need to stop trying so hard and just do what they did best.

It was particularly good that May was back on form rather than being some dumbed-down comedy sidekick from earlier in the series.

I guess the problem is that it's already been filmed, you're stuck with what they've got.

Thought it was a complete waste being in Finland.

The LeMans section was the best bit of the whole series. May is the best journalist out of the three of them and it really shows when he's presenting something like that.

The whole "Grand Tour" premise is a bit ****** really. Why bother going to a country/city and not actually doing anything in said country/city.

That hair/goatee/tasche combo makes him look like a right pretentious berk. Who does he thinks he is, Johnny Depp?

Thanks - that trailer makes me optimistic, certainly glad they're carrying on with the road trip specials after there was some doubt if they would/could If it hits the standard of Friday's episode I'll be very happy.

BTW which listings site do you use that includes Amazon Prime? (It actually never occurred to me that any of them would.)

I've been using that for years too. Great site. It usually has the main British channels listed too.

Is it a tax scam?

But totally agree, what's the point in turning up in a random city, just to make a couple of gags at the locals expense. Why not film an epic snow special in Finland, or a Safari in South Africa, etc?
