That was so much better than last week, they looked natural together rather than wooden and it was good rather than ****

Are you sure? I was under the impression that the BBC forced them to interview them on Top Gear to fulfill contractual plugging obligations.

The killing of them on GT is mocking the fact they didn't need to do that anymore I thought. I mean, why would they want to interview them? Unless they had someone particularly interesting, it just got fast-forwarded along with their lap as it was the weakest, most boring part of the program.

The celeb interviews were to fill time in the UK version and we're replaced by ads when the show was sold abroad.

I only read it on wikipedia admittedly, but maybe it'd have made the show a little too similar for their liking.

Does a British audience help? With the humour, etc?

Well it was a proper road trip featuring cars and not a load of rinse and repeat dicking about in bland location while pretending to get shot. In other words it was fun and pretty funny

I rarely watched the celebrity bit on Top Gear, but there were a few good guests over the years. Gillian Anderson especially But in general GT doesn't miss celebrity guests.

Agree with everyone's reviews this week, this episode felt natural and what I hoped for from the start. Almost certainly no coincidence it was a British audience. Let's just never speak of episode 2 again.

It would have been nice to have the Italy road trip split across several episodes (whole season) with a different segment showing journey to each city with detours en route to to do the usual ClarksonHammondMay stuff. They could have done a whole episode in Modena.

Surely watching Hammond do donuts in a muscle car every week would have gotten tedious?

This week's episode seemed like a decent Top Gear episode, but I kind of wanted more. They've been doing this for years. It would be nice to see some new ideas.

I loved it. Up there with any of the best TG they did.

The bit on Clarkson's house was probably the weak bit, but when they found the picture of Jeremy on a horse, and then his photo album, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

we were sworn to secrecy at the Whitby filming, especially about the House demolition bit.
The trio really do seem to get along together very well - lots of joking around between filming over 6 hours. There were a number of segments filmed, including a car game show idea, which never made the final cut, but was very funny as well.
Long may this show continue and can i get money back from my BBC telly tax please.

the Review on Ars for tGT episode 3 mentions that they are in Whitby again next week - perhaps they got 2 shows out of that 6 hours.

Two main thoughts this week, apart from "where is everyone "
