I always wanted the Screamin' Cenobites, but the wife said no. She also won't let me hang my original piece of Rawhead Rex art given to me by Les Edwards!

So far resisted the urge to buy anything, but part of me wants a room full of film and comic items lining the walls. Only thing I have at the moment is an Attack The Block poster signed by the cast (not counting the numerous signed books and the Q Pootle 5 signed print ), just waiting for the kids to grow up and the extra disposable income to manifest.

I used to have the Pinhead Screamin' kit. I never built it and ended up putting it on Ebay.

I still have a signed Hellraiser poster (the cover of the first comic: http://www.rarecomicbooks.fashionabl...ellraiser.html) in my 'Barker archives'.

Yep, he once commented to me at a signing "Nice to see a familiar face"

They're supposed to be bad! They're in the style of 70s / 80s Star Wars figures.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a box but I'd rather make one than buy one.

There are quite a few webites with instructions but It's just a case of being bothered to be honest.

At least if I make one I know it's just a block of wood and I wont be turned into a cenobite when I'm playing with it.

The wood bit is easy enough... But the brass detailing is VERY intricate!
What sites you seen / skills you got?

I fancy reading some horror over Halloween. I've never read any Barker before. Where should a newbie start? I love the first two Hellraiser movies but don't really want to read the source novels since I plan to watch the movies in October.

Looking for something quite short (under 200 pages). Any recommendations?

Books of Blood Omnibus Volumes 1-3

What I started with, full of short-ish stories.

The book of short stories that was to be called Black is the Devils rainbow, has essentially been rejigged and is now a limited release through Subterranean.

I'll post a link when I have a mo.

Currently reading Barkers 'Tonight, Again'...enjoyable stuff but VERY erotic at times. I'm somewhat broadminded but blimey...underage girls playing with non human todgers whilst in a plum tree is making me feel a little uncomfortable.

Lol, Barker has never been afraid of having a high perv quota in his stories.

At his current rate he may be shuffling off this mortal coil first. Hopefully the stroke won't have had the same effect on Abarat as the accident had on The Gunslinger books which went downhill after King was hit by the van and decided to tie up all his other characters in this one series.
Looking at his facebook page he still seems to be doing the paintings.
The general rule of childrens book series these days seems to be if you read the first book when it came out as a kid then
1. You will have forgotten the last book by the time the next one has come out. They should include a reminder of what has happened so far and how the last book finished as an appendix.
2 You'll read the last one as an adult assuming you don't decide you're too old for kids stuff.

Sounds about right - at least JKR was good at churning them out to a tight timescale!
After Abarat 4 there's Abarat 5 to come too (and the 3rd book of the Art)...

I think one of the problems with these series that drag on is that the writers just get bored with the whole thing after a while and that just compounds the issue even more.

Having said that, hopefully Clive's health is improving and I wish him well and a good and speed recovery - he's been my favourite author for over 25 years now!

Not 69 yet and bad news coming in threes just ignores those that don't fit.
