Needs Ernest Borgnine sitting in the back seat.

The proper in-camera stunt sequences like Bond.. check.
The close-up fast and brutal fighting of Bourne.. check.
Tom Cruise breaking his leg in a stunt, because he hardly ever uses doubles.. check.
A dollop of humour, and some old friendly faces.. check.
A zillion dollar budget.. check.

Going to be awesome.....!!!!

Its not Mission Impossible without a lot of running

Wish I hadn't watched that. It does appear to give away far too much of the action (including what looks like the end of the helicopter chase).

It does look great though.

Pretty much what I was going to say (and no reflection on people who post trailers),.

That trailer does seem to show loads of the film.

Mind you there does seem to be no escape nowadays, told a friend to avoid the new Jurassic World trailer as it seemed to show the whole film and have seen it three times at the cinema since.

Saying that it does look amazing

Saw this last night in a double bill with the Rogue Nation. It's easily as good if not better than that film, even with the extended running time. There's some nice nods to older films, all of the actors and actresses seem to be enjoying it and it's got a great storyline.

The only downside is Henry Cavill again, the guy is just so bland in any role he plays.

There's also the modern thing of trailer shots either being different or not in the film at all, not that it caused any issues obviously.

Well worth seeing if you've enjoyed the previous instalments.

Had a sneaky morning off to see Mission Impossible: Fallout. Have a massive soft spot for these as they are so much better than the Bond films and always deliver.

Preposterous in the extreme but executed so well that it doesn’t matter. A set of action sequences strung together with a bit of a convoluted plot, in a good way.

Some staggeringly good stunt work, with Cruise and the camera pulling off seemless action.

It’s a counterpart to Rogue Nation so helps if you’ve seen that recently. Completely inverts the concept that a franchise gets worse as it goes along.

Easily one of the best action films ever made, in terms of physics, conviction and pace.

Even the third act raises the stakes where it might have forgivably - faltered.

Along with Infinity War, two five star blockbusters in one year is unheard of.

Fabulous.

Saw this last night and thought it was incredible. Even knowing what was going to happen due to the spoiler filled trailers did nothing to dampen the experience. To get one exciting set piece in a film is a good film but this was packed with them from start to finish.

I wonder why the
bit in the trailer wasn't in the film. I remember seeing photos in the news about that filming and the rig they'd set up for that couldn't have been cheap.

I'm a big fan of the series & this is easily as good as any of them. Despite the lengthy run-time, the pace is relentless & there's never a dull moment. As always, the action scenes & stunt work are sublime, the storyline is twisty & convoluted but never confusing, beautiful locations, solid acting, great score & fantastic direction.

This franchise is so far ahead of the Bond one, it's embarrassing!

Yup I'm a big fan of the series too.

Normally by film six in a series you be begging them to stop. Yet here they seem to get better and better with each one!

I'm sure someone will point out that Bond is aiming for something different yet I find the recent Bonds so dull and deary I'd much rather watch the MI films.

Looking around and watching the entire cinema going utterly silent at THAT point at the end was great.

Very surprised at one element of the Digital Fix review of this:

Quote:
Mission: Impossible – Fallout also stands apart in the franchise because it very much feels like the end of a long chapter evoking elements from all the previous films in a delicate balance: the false pretences of Brian De Palma’s masterpiece, the over-the-top action scenes of John Woo’s romantic ride, the personal life elements of J.J. Abrams’ weakest entry, and the technical mastery of Bird’s inventive effort.
I've always considered MI2 by far the weakest entry in the series (so much so that I have no interest in watching it again), while MI3 was a visceral return to form.

I watched 3 again recently and didn't think it was anywhere near as good as I'd remembered, especially the poor 3rd act.

I remembered thinking it was pretty good the first time I watched it years ago.

But came away feeling the same as you on a recent re-watch of them all.

Maybe it's just because the second is such a weak entry.
