Well, that was absolutely brilliant. I went in to it knowing nothing and I was absolutely gripped from start to finish. What really got me was the sense of tension near the end - I mean, we all knew what was going to happen but I can’t remember the last time I was sitting that tense in my seat while watching a movie.

I also loved the soundtrack - the impending sense of doom they used throughout. Thought the cinematography was great and I loved the energy and brutality of the fight scenes. The whole thing seemed really fresh and I don’t think I can remember a film in recent times that has so exceeded my expectations.

Loved it. Superb action spectacular, easily as good as the last one. Not sure if better than 3 or not.

A couple of scenes in the Paris chase pulled me out the of the movie (luckily rushing through cross-traffic on bike & Foo, and the very convenient end with Benji and the boat in the sewer). Only really for not being on the same "believability" scale of the rest of the action. Those 2 bits just seemed lazy.

The Paris chase scene ( bar the convenient ending ) - not quite as good IMHO as the Ronin one - is far more believable than the helicopter chase/crash sequence

I really enjoyed this too. The action sequences are thrilling, the cast are likeable (I thought Cavill was fine) and it’s just fantastic entertainment. I hope it makes loads of money and thy make another one.

Enjoyed this very much the other night. Any reason why Jeremy Renner wasn’t in this one?

He wasn't. It was due to his Avengers 4 commitments as the didn't have a definite shooting schedule on Mission Impossible at the time.
