The appeal of the windfall bond from my limited reading is that you get annual interest (currently 0.75%) as well as the potential for 'winning' tax free prizes (64 to 1 with the minimum prize being £1,000 and the max, £50,000). The investment is protected by the FSCS. Seems like it could be worth a punt .

They also don't seem to be that popular so there is a decent chance nobody wins the prizes in any given month. Great if you win, but it's not really like premium bonds where there are so many prizes you are likely to get some prizes.

You could have £10k in there for 30 years and statistically win nothing.

I suppose in reality you're only gambling £75 a year, but I'd guess over a number of years probability wise you'd be better with the premium bonds. But if you're happy to lock your money away a bit longer you'd be getting better returns.

oh ! I won £25 last month. Only the second time in over 20 years.

(can't remember how many I've got but it's not many)

£25 for me this month! It's a miracle! (...second ever win in 10 years, with a relatively small holding admittedly!)
