Hasn't this been the case for years though. I mean Fonz and the Happy Days gang was hardly Miyazaki was it?

Tried to avoid going, but my son really wanted to see this. He liked it, being 6 its aimed for his age. But this 30-something found nothing worth enjoying.

I realise Lucas didn't make it for me, but most movies whose target audience is children throw something in for adults to keep them interested. Nothing here.

As others said, its just 4 episodes stuck together in ugly animation with dreadful American teen dialogue.

Characters are just as bland here than the new trilogy, but perhaps some of the acting is better in this one

And there, Soprano, is the difference between a 'Family Film' and a 'Kids Film'. Family films are something that the whol family can enjoy, Pixar films for example, mainly because there are parts to it that would only speak to an adult.

Lucas has been towing the line that people don't like the prequels because their made for children, just as the original films were made for Children, and that's why we're incapable of enjoying them. Which is complete and utter crap from a man who cannot fathom the fact that he's made mistakes.

First and foremost this is a kids film through and through. Everything in it is geared towards children. Despite what George might say the prequels are not kids films, do kids really know what a trade federation is? Hell I know some adults who are confused by the prequels.

It's quality. You can well imagine it hangin about with R2-D2. And when the fan is switched on it looks like it's scanning for life-forms like R2-D2 does on the ice world of Hoth when Luke Skywalker goes missing. Quality in moton. The other day it disappeared. I said, "where's the bag-l gone? have the jawas come to pick it up in the sandcrawler?" to which one of the girls in the office replied, "No, Les the porter!" —Captainchode

You've clearly never seen the Holiday Special.

Among other delights, it has Mark Hamill as a drag queen, Carrie Fisher clearly stoned out of her mind, Wookiee porn, and 2 hours of undubbed Wookiee barks and growls.

If this doesn't make you want to cut your wrists, nothing will.

I actually thought this was quite good actually, and was a bit suprised it attracted a lot of bad reviews, I mean its certaintly not terrible(seen a lot of worse films than this) and the action scenes are rather enjoyable I thought.
However it still comes with bad points, the story is terrible, and the animation is way off the mark, It looked like they hired a 2 year old to animate it, WTF were they thinking.

Overall good, but it wont win any awards, Oh and probably very unlikely I will buy the dvd unless it comes with some seriously good extras

Loved it. Clone Wars ain't perfect, but it helps if you don't have a pathological dislike of the prequel trilogy to begin with. I'm willing to sit through the first two hours of Attack Of The Clones just to get to that last couple of reels where the Jedi go to war, and Clone Wars continues that vibe. And at the same time, it harks back to the race-against-time storytelling and barbed dialogue of the original trilogy.

The lighter tone really does help rather than hinder, as it adds a humourous touch that's sorely missing from the prequels. Finally we're allowed to have some fun with these characters! And Ahsoka I found to be no more irritating that the whiny little runt in the first Star Wars film, whatshisname, Luke something or other. . .

I love the nods to the outlying saga too. I don't mean the recycling of classic lines, but instead little bits like Yoda quietly remarking that Anakin will have to learn to let go of his padawan when the time comes. As we all know, Anakin's attachments aren't easily relinquished.

One more thing: I'm so glad that they've finally done Jabba's voice right. In Phantom Menace, or the added scene in Star Wars, he sounds very different to what we heard in Jedi. But this time around they did a great job.

Watched the 2D Clone wars at the weekend. It really does show up the '3D' Clone wars up as a loveless turd of a movie that it really is.

TBH i saw this last night and it's not half as bad as i thought it was going to be! I actually sat back and enjoyed it!

If this was live action and we had:
Ep1 Attack of the clone
Ep2 Clone wars
Ep3 Revenage of the Sith

Then we could have had a much better triology then what we ended up with.

I'd go with that, Roberto. The Clone Wars (not this one film, but the conflict as a whole) should've been the backdrop for the entire prequel trilogy.
