No idea why they didn’t call Leclerc into the pit for the fastest lap if they weren’t going to let him pass

The F1 2019 Thread

I think Sky have cocked up the post race coverage, if you have 3 mins to squeeze in interviews with Russell and Albon at the end then they’ve not created enough time.

Also no notebook was a let down too.

I suppose the fastest lap was pretty good for adding a slight interest item at the end - that said 1 point isnt exactly a lot.

Really pleased for Bottas, hopefully regardless of what happens with team competitiveness we can have a year long battle inside Mercedes at least. But hopefully we can have Ferrari and Red Bull fully at the front too.

I'm glad about the fastest lap point, it adds a nice new dimension to the end of the race when people are otherwise thinking about turning things down. Though in the right circumstances I can easily imagine "B" teams being asked to try for the fastest lap to take the point away from a rival at the front, even if it means finishing outside the the top ten and the point not being awarded at all.

Boo to Ferrari for calling off Leclerc vs Vettel

Happy to see the Honda engineers smiling!

Ferrari were idiots for not pitting Leclerc at the end.

Or thought risking a dodgy pit stop for 1 measly point wasn’t worth the risk?

He had 35s in hand. A pitstop was 23s. Even if they forgot the tyres completely and had to go and fetch them, they'd have still gotten out in front.

Not sure anyone wants to be the first one to lose a place trying to get an extra point. Maybe they thought he just didn't have the pace to do it?

Having now watched all of the Drive To Survive series on Netflix, I'm going to miss not hearing them all swearing their heads off.

“Coming soon to SkyF1, uncensored radio coms, only Ł5 a month”

Either that or watch Formula E or DTM, their always live coms can get rather fruity.

Well the F1 ones were ruined when you basically weren't allowed to say anything for fear of it being team orders or getting done for swearing. Webber was always good for a few choice words

I think the F1 bosses are worried about the next race already with them posting this vid

https://youtu.be/g5ooyjaXuK0

TBF it was a great comeback but they had to go back to 2006 to find it

Well done Leclerc. Good to see him performing straight away. Let's see how Ferrari manufacture a switch...

Two other things:

1. Vettel needs to shave that awful tasche off. Makes him look weird, old and creepy.

2. Does anyone else notice any lip sync issues with Sky's trackside interviews? Any time they do those interviews the audio is always slightly behind. There's no issue with their regular chat using mics.

.

Works in everyone else’s favour if their lead driver is slower

Unlucky for him. A win will come soon for him though as he's been very quick. Quicker than Vettel.

Still getting lip sync issues on post race and track interviews. Is no-one else getting it?

No issues here, just catching up after having to leave on lap 17 to go to my Mother’s Day dinner (remind me to STOP looking at my phone when I have to delay playback!)

Clearly Charles’ race but the Ferrari does look fragile when pushed.
