Looks like the 1 point for fastest lap has been confirmed for Australia, cue half the field pitting 5 laps from the end in a attempt to grab it.

It's only for those that finish in the top 10. If you have a pitstop length gap behind you then it'd be worth it, otherwise you're just giving away places.

Not really sure what its intending to do except give a point somewhere, I don't see people flocking back. As said, I guess you could have people going for it in the final laps but for 1 point, is it worth it really? I suppose if you've got 2 points on the board and have the time, but it'd be pretty embarressing if you went for it and didn't get it, or spun off

Adds a bit of excitement at the end of the race though so I think a good decision.

This sport is a few seasons away from being dead in my opinion. I looked to see when the qualy is on this weekend and as soon as I saw it was only highlights only on C4 I've decided that I won't bother anymore with the majority of the races. I might watch the British GP but other than that I won't give it much time. I've watched it every year since the early 90s.

I've gone from getting up in the middle of the night, to wondering who won sometime on a Sunday evening.

The 2019 Launch was a cringe-fest, an extended mess of the stuff normally record and wind through of pre race nothingness only I was watching live so I couldn’t, still it had the bonus of a boat with the entire field and their tram bosses getting lost.

Oh hell he wasn't a race director he was THE race director.

I'm sure he had a junior but now Herbie has retired I've no idea who it is.

I thought I was going to be fine with just highlights. Didn't bother me much the last couple of years and MOTD suits me fine for footie.
BUT
I've just read that SKy have forced conditions onto C4 that they didn't have last year.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/47542802
reduced on-track coverage, no grid-walk and no 'pen' interviews.

Looks like the new theme tune is from Tron Legacy, if they can’t have The Chain then I approve of the alternative

Terrific new article on the BBC sports page, about front wings, written under a pseudonym by a current F1 team aerodynamicist, allegedly.

Williams looked desperately slow in practice this morning.

Will be interesting to see to what extent Ferrari were slow running....

Yes surprisingly far behind but race pace maybe different plus you can’t judge the teams by this circuit, it’s always been a bit odd.

That was pretty unexciting, with no thanks to Ferrari for calling off Leclerc.

Great drive from Bottas.
