To be fair, there was an alarm type thing that went off and all the young children seemed to run and hide. Everyone of fighting age seemed pretty well trained.

Slow episode but I was thrilled with the Fulci zombies.

This was like an episode of Fear The Walking Dead for me. That bad.

Literally don't care if Tara ends up as walker food.

I guess another group was introduced, and at continental drift speed we will end up with some kind of entente cordiale between them all to take down Negan.

TWD has certainly gone from must watch to frustrated watch in quick time. But I'm in this far, so I can't give up. Goddamnit, it's Smallville all over again.

My elderly brain cells ain't cut out for it anymore - I seem to spend most of most episodes lately thinking "who's that? are they new? did something happen last season I should remember? Christ, not another 'group', or is it one from season one?"

At the moment it would be better as a 70s "adventure of the week" road trip like Kung Fu or Planet Of The Apes - at least with those it didn't rely on making the viewer feel clever for remembering something from god knows how long ago...

I'll keep watching though - can't afford to miss anything that might be important in Season 30!!

AFAIK (from YT vids about the episode!) that's 'Oceanside' from the comics. New to the TV show. Yes, does have the whiff of heading towards 'all out war' against Negan.

FWIW, despite being a Tara episode, I quite enjoyed that. I did forget that her and Denise were together. Only remembered when she made reference to liking girls at the dinner table.

LOVED the reveal of walkers from that big pile of sand/cement or whatever it was.

Guys, read up on it. The Tara episode was a necessary evil because the actor got pregnant in real life and they had to ship her away and bring her back into it again .

I agree they could have went about it better like combining it in another episode, but it just wreaks of laziness and pretty much getting a filler episode out of it.

I'm glad she's back though as for a second I thought we were going to be dealing with another story line arc with another group, but there is already too many.

1. Saviours ( Daryl )
2. HillTop ( Maggie )
3. Alexandria
4. The Kingdom ( Ezekial and Carol )

Thats 4 different locations which means we potentially have many episodes left that will focus on one area / character ( which I hate ) . Not to mention any other sub-plots along the way occurring outside of the gates.

Unfortunately, I can't see them getting one over the Saviours this season, as we are nearly half way through the season and they are all pretty beaten down. This storyline of them rising up is most likely going to go well into Season 8 . ( IMO - note - I haven't read the comics ) .

That was my exact reaction up until the final few scenes and I had a vague memory of her. I guess like others have said, they're now suddenly showing all these groups who will come together to kick Negan's a$$, but it just seems like such hard work. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong - is it the pacing, the storytelling, genuinely no idea.

I think its patience as well....Negan is bad, and immediately very bad - so you want him dead and you want that death to be at the hands of a big character such as rick and you want it NOW . It doesn't help that at the moment there doesn't seem to be any hope in hell of them being able to get out of this. Maybe once they start cluing us in on how it may be done, we will be happier.

The Governer wasn't immediately bad....his character was developed over time to show that he was in fact a good person once.

With Negan, you just want him gone, immediately, but "Thats not how this works"

Maybe we need a Negan back story episode ( intertwined with him being more currently badass while showing an opposite side to his character in this earlier days ) . I'd be up for an episode like that as long as it was relevant to the story line.

EDIT

Just as I guessed :

http://tvweb.com/walking-dead-season...y-dean-morgan/

So, we'll see Negan straight into Season 8 .

I really thought Tara was going to get a bullet when they marched her out into the woods.

Can't tell you how disappointing it was to see her escape!

So true

Don't want to give up on the show but will keep on the VM box and catch up if it improves. Monday's ep was the dullest one yet, Duller than Lori episodes

I'm starting to think like the rest of the naysayers in this thread. This is becoming a chore to watch. Do we really need extended episodes when it's just going to be more misery to endure? Even Talking Dead this week was boring.

I'm also getting a bit sick of Neagan grinning & saying 'Well! Look. At. You.' TWD does not need catchphrases.

Oh & Carl, you clearly went on a suicide mission there. WHY NOT JUST SHOOT THE ****** WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE (again)?

Of course, next week being the mid-season finale, they'll probably pull something exciting out of the bag to pull me back in...

Another cold open which left me thinking I'd missed an episode! Presumably there's some sort of grand plan being played out here by Rick, despite it looking very fractured and every man for himself? Or is this just to show how splintered they are as a group and will be brought back together once they're aware of all the different groups who are being ruled by Negan?

Strange how they make this big reveal of the power station base with its guards and tall vantage points yet nobody notices a hipster on top of the panel van as Negan drives off near the end there.

Carl feeling all self-conscious about his missing eye when he's been walking about with that hairstyle for god knows how long...

Can someone just tell me why Carl didn't shoot him? He went there to kill him, he has no problem killing people because he shot two of Negans guys, Negan was standing right in front of him, so wtf happened. At the very least the writers could have had him start shooting in his direction!!! Ahhhhhhh!!

Should have had him give it a shot, clip the guy Negan was using as a shield and then run out of ammo. It would only enhance Negan's admiration for him so still work.

Then again, who knows what the hell is going on in the writer's heads.

Still not seeing a reason why his people would follow, some of them quite blatantly hate him.

I'd want to kill him just for the constant leaning back and drawn out sentences.

Er ruling by fear is a thing?

For me on the old Carls suicide mission, he was given Lucille and was standing behind him as he did his balcony talk, was thinking if he hit him in the head with it with all his strength... Would have had a fighting chance at taking him down there and then. Getting fedup of all this giving Lucille to people to hold who want to kill him.

Don't know if he had trained marksmen protecting him there or not, didn't see anything.

If he's not going to shoot him with a 90% or so success rate, he's not going to try and smack him with a bat which would probably go very wrong imo.
