Google Pixel Phone

£700 SIM free for the 128GB model?

Yeah, I'll pass.

Copied from the Google Home thread.

One Plus must be happy with those prices.

I've had a Nexus 4, 5 and 5x but I have zero interest at those prices.

Dead on arrival.

Crazy pricing from Google. Online reports seem to suggest US market getting a free daydream headset with preorders - didn't see that on UK store. S7 it is then....

Bonkers pricing. They're obviously after Apple going on the launch stream, but can't see many defecting from iOS at those prices... There's no incentive

I've just gone out of contact with my Moto X so was hoping this was for me, not at those prices though.

Suspect in a few months there will be some reasonable contract deals about. Just not sure whether to wait or look for the cut price 6p deals that I guess will start appearing

These will crash in price like they did with the Nexus 6.
Seems like Google learnt nothing from that hilarious ******* up.
I'll just make do with my 5x for another year.

Just looked on the UK Carphone Warehouse Website:

iPhone 7 Plus 128GB Sim Free = £819.00
Google Pixel XL 128GB Sim Free = £819.00

God knows what they were thinking when setting these price points.
They are up against the very cream of the crop iPhone 7+ or latest Samsung Edge Models.

Unless they had some jawdropping design/build to justify it, (which they don't) it's bizarre how they must have NOT listened to anyone.

Typical uninformed Android fan.

The iPhone headphone jack omission can be sorted with a very straightforward DIY fix.

I get a strong sense of dejavu here.
Feels like another Nexus 9 tablet moment, where they fail to understand their market.
Apparently from some hands on reviews last night, the phone is lightning fast in general operation, which is great of course, latest Processor, Picture/camera quality and screen quality is bang up there.
But it's still lacking that extra to line up right up at the very top and it's priced at the very top.

Knock £200 off, and I guess we'd be ok with it.
Even at that point £620 it's a LOT of money.

Every time these new flagships get released reviewers talk about them running lightning fast and buttery smooth but I don't buy it. They said the same about my current handset 18 months ago and it still runs just as well, so why pay £800 for the pleasure of no noticeable improvement, unless it has a lot more to offer than just performance?

Phones at this pricing level are status symbols and people after that kind of cache aren't going to grab a Google phone ahead of the other big boys.

Nice phone but really wrong price. Google trying to go with flagship pricing is not going to appeal to mass market, but there's a plethora of handsets in the mid range already.

Carphone Warehouse has the 32Gb version for £35 a month + £180 up front.

I'm hoping it'll drop a bit before my contract is up for renewal next year, I'm mostly interested for the Daydream side, I want to do some VR coding!
