I think the constant abuse has finally got to him!

...did anyone REALLY think that was a penalty, I actually did at the time but I guess it was a little harsh ...and where the hell did almost 10 minutes of extra time come from?!

...what a night, just like the old days...in the words of Rio Ferdinand, 'Man Utd are BACK!'

The extra time, presumably, came from the fact it took the ref at least 4 minutes to come to his ludicrous decision ( and he has already indicated there were going to be at least 3 ).

It was never a penalty; wasn't a penalty without VAR and wasn't a penalty with it. And if it took him 3 minutes to check it then it wasn't a 'clear and obvious' mistake ( which is one of the fundamental remits of VAR ). Don't get me wrong - if the same thing happens to Liverpool next week then I will more than happily take it but, it was never, ever, a penalty. God, I am beginning to sound like Rio Ferdinand

The first time I saw it l, it looked like it actually hut his arse and not his arm.

The problem is VAR, as highlighted in the WC Final, will always show that as a penalty - even when it isn't - as in slow motion, and still frames, it always LOOKS like a penalty.

Still based on last night ... next season, expect to see players lashing the ball into the box at waist height and then demanding a VAR review And the new rules defining what is/isn't a penalty will just make it worse. Why bother trying to take a shot when you can just chip it onto a defender's arm and chances are you will be awarded a penalty

Brilliant stuff. Not a United fan but even less of a PSG fan. What a pressure penalty. Even I could barely watch him take that!

Shout for Dalot who appealed for the pen. Of course the VARs will be in the on-pitch ref's ear anyway but may have just planted the seed.

Neymar's face an absolute picture!

Only saw the incident this morning and 100% a penalty for me. The PSG player make a deliberate effort to block the ball and did it illegally. It didn't just hit him, he was jumping to put his body in the way, and it hit his arm. He took a risk and he lost. It wasn't anything like a situation where a ball is fired in and it just hits someone.

This.

If he'd not attempted the block it would have been a goal kick. Madness.

As long as his arm is in a natural position - which it was - he is perfectly allowed to do what he did.

So your body is in a natural position a foot off the ground with your arms and legs spread to make yourself bigger to block a ball?

What, so defenders are not allowed to jump now??? LOL

His arms were not spread out, they were in a perfectly natural position for someone who is jumping.

His arms and legs were deliberately spread to make himself a bigger target, that was the whole point of the move. We're not going to agree so I'll leave it there.

Congratulations - brilliant win.

Of course you do realise that this has set up a very real possibility of FOUR Manchester derbies in April - none of them dead rubbers

You have to progress first

You can have the PL win, we'll have the others.

It wouldn't surprise me if the FA Cup was fairly low down on Soslkjaer's list of priorities. Making sure they are in the top 4 and the CL would be the main concerns.

I dunno, this could well be his one season in charge. A cup and a 4th placed finish might be the best (relatively speaking) that any manager has done since Fergie, considering his start to the year.

I’m not a UTD fan but will support any UK team in Europe. Can’t believe that was a penalty at all. He did jump but looked to me like he was getting out of the way, looking at this pic in link below his arm wasn’t wide at all.

The 3 refs quoted in the Sky Sports article also say no pen too.

I can certainly see why it was given but there's no way it would've been without VAR.

Then again, it happened to PSG so I couldn't give two solitary *****.
