Not sure if this is the right thread to post about it, but since I've had my playbar, there have been constant audio sync issues, particularly with blu-rays and its not that the player needs delaying, its that the image is faster than the audio.

There doesn't seem any way to fix this painful lag, and I'm trying to learn to live with it, but I wondered if anyone here has had the same problem? There seems to be a lot of people writing about it on the Sonos forums and other sites, but I haven't found any practical solution as yet...

You can change the sync in the settings, in the app. Looks like you can only delay it. What about settings in the blu-ray player?

I occasionally find some DD stuff is 0.15 ms out in XBMC but it's easy to adjust them in seconds in that, and I presumed it was the source at fault because it's only a few things.

No you can't, as I said it's not about delaying the audio, its about closing the gap between image and sound, which seems frankly impossible. If you google the problem you'll find quite few other users suffering the same fate.

I love the equipment but suspect they dropped the ball with the playbar...

Is it always DTS stuff that the player or TV is having to convert? I don't use blu-ray, we either use XBMC or watch from normal TV.

So the audio is ahead of the video?

Have you logged it with Sonos support to see if they can do something about it? I have found their support very responsive.

yeah, log a ticket with support they will help...

Not personally had issues with sound lag on my playbar. Is it just your BluRay player?

It's predominantly blu-ray issues to be fair, although I have seen lag while using Virgin Media Cable TV too. I have looked at/ tweaked the players audio settings and nothing changes. Perhaps I should log as ticket as you've suggested, it certainly can't hurt.

I'll do it now and see what transpires...

Yes Im primarily a Spotify user but sometimes I want to stream some specialist interest radio station which isn't on Tunein.
Did you decide? I've just picked up the Denon Envaya mini, impressive for it's size and I'm really pleased with it.

I had been torn between a BT speaker and a connected system, originally considering the Bose Soundlink 3 and Sonos Play 3 in the respective categories. Having thought long and hard, I realised the Sonos system was really what I wanted for the home but the portability of a BT speaker for travel. The Bose would have been a bit of a compromise on both fronts; a fair substitute for a single Sonos but no good for expansion, portable for travel but still quite bulky (the proprietary charging is also a pain).

The sensible option was to go for the Sonos and a mini BT speaker. The only problem was I couldn't justify spending big on a BT speaker and getting a Sonos as well but the cheaper BT options didn't quite cut it so, although I did have a shortlist, it wasn't until I discovered the Denon that I could finally be satisfied it was the right way to go.

Incidentally, I got the Denon first as it'll be used on an upcoming trip and is still perfectly capable for use around the house until I can pick up a Play 3 in a month or two (closely followed by a Play 1 for a second room ).

I did indeed, and went the same way as you

Also really impressed with the Envaya Mini. Great sound from such a small device.

I still plan to get a Sonos system (or similar) in future when I'm more serious about setting up a home audio system. But for now the Envaya has served me well as I can carry it anywhere with me. Certainly a huge step up from my X-mini II

Still waiting on a hdmi equipped sonos
Fancy a sound bar for front room audio duties to replace the bulky 5.1 amp and speakers but would want one with dedicated rears

I have a Biose sound link mini. Which I'm pretty impressed with. I understand the sonos are much better. I'd like to build my in house audio around sonos over the coming years. Not sure whether to start off with a couple of 1s or a 3 or a 5.

The sonos poker rule.

Two 1's are better than a 3
Two 3's are better that two 1's and a 5
Two 5's beats all. Unless you have a sub.
The sound bar is wild.

Until it has HDMI it won't do HD Audio formats from Bluray.

I noticed from the review on what hifi if the Play:1 is your first item of Sonos equipment, it will need to be hardwired to your router via ethernet.

Is that right? Be a bummer for me as my router is in the spare room and I don't want a speaker there.

I don't think so. You used to need to have one speaker wired or get a bridge (£40), but the recent software updates has removed that neccessity. As far as I am aware that applies to all speakers.

Think I'll go for a 5 to start. Can then get two 1sor another 5 later. Sound sensible?
