No it doesn't have HDMI. If the bluray player it connected to the TV by HDMI the TV should pass the signal from the bluray player via the TV via optical.

I presume the reason it doesn't have a HDMI connection is that one wouldn't be enough anyway - most people have multiple sources so it'd still need to pass the signal through, so may as well pass through for all.

No DTS either. To be honest, quite a few flaws in the soundbar if its a basis for replacing your hifi kit.

It's a non starter for me, two massive flaws that I can't ignore. Shame as the concept is great.

We've got a 1 and a 3 system in different rooms. Sound is solid, not jaw dropping. Sonos has massively high ease of use, "setup and forget" which these days is really nice. You are paying a premium for that alone. I have heard much better audio from separates at a similar cost to a couple of 3s but I have never come across such flexibility or ease of use to access multi-room audio from my iTunes library.

When I was a bit younger it was all about the last word in clarity, definition, stereo separation.....life is different these days, if you need background music all over the house you can't beat Sonos. Also if you are careful with positioning they are practically invisible and just blend in with the decor. A bonus for Mrs akira9000.

I really enjoy using the crossfade function when playing tracks from my music library across the house, it feels almost like radio at times and is a great little feature...

I've been using my playbar for a few days now (which replaced my old AV / speakers setup) and I have to admit to being very impressed indeed, even on an optical connection. The 'surround' soundscape really catches me off guard at times and dialogue is crisp and punchy even on cable tv. I didn't plump for the mounting plate, but may just get one to satisfy the completist in me.

...ultimately the player was worth every penny and I'm very very happy, I just need to refrain from getting a sub anytime soon

No! (at least not yet....) . How does it compare with KEF or similar type subs?

If I were to combine the sub with just the playbar would it be worth the cost? The listening area is quite small at present but when we remove the internal wall things will be very different...

Investment for the future then

The depth of the base really needs to be heard to be appreciated. Even my wife is impressed with it (and that's saying something)

Oddly enough I just read a very compelling Amazon review and subsequently it's sitting in my basket, so now just a matter of time until it's a new addition to my existing system...

those days are behind me now, perhaps I should change my username! The buzz of having music piped throughout my home gives me much more satisfaction I'm pleased to say...

Looking to get a couple of 1s I think - seems Amazon Spain has had some decent deals recently due to the fluctuating Euro.

If it's only a few quid I'd stick to UK purchases. SOG act potentially gives you up to six years on any issues, and no sending back overseas.

I apply that to any electrical purchase (I still buy in the UK instead of out here when I can, unless there's a big difference).

Good to see things improve.... Deezer integration in Sonos has been given a major haul and not almost matches that of Google Music, the only shortcoming is that Google lets you give tracks thumbs up and down whereas Deezer only gives you a 'favourite' option (I want it to know I hate those crap tracks radio occasionally gives me!)

Sonos users should also be getting a cheaper deal on their forthcomings high quality service too;
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/1326...ugh-your-sonos

With all those changes anyone who got Deezer free for a year with a Play 1 recently should be happy!
