It's staggering. Oodles of bass, massive volume, but still a lot of control and nuance.

Play something good through it and it's great. Proper chuffed with it.

Sounds great. Have you heard an old 5 to compare? Reviews on the new one seem to be extremely favorable

No. I was planning on either getting twin 1's or the 3 initially. Mate of mine who works in Audio T said no point in the 3 IF you're getting two 1's. So I demo'ed the 5 in Currys, limited as that was, and went for it.

It's very good on pop and rock but on orchestra and soundtracks it's like sitting in an Imax. Without the really deep bass floor shaking of course.

I've just picked up a new play 5 and can highly recommend it. Stunning sound and you can hear all aspects of the the music. A great improvement over the Sony system it's replaced.

Next on the list is 2x play 1's

I've seen some extremely good reviews of the 5...I may put it on my list!
The Play3 I got was too good a deal to miss - you NEVER see Sonos in a sale.

It's in Beta for US only. I signed up for a 99p for 3 month Spotify thing to tide me over until Amazon prime working.
Also use google play music and sync your iTunes or pc stored music for easy streaming.

Amazing gift to be given from work!

Wow, yeah, great present from work!

Google Music is excellent, both as a free backup to chuck all your music into and as a paid service. It's actually the best streaming service experience on Sonos at the moment IMO, well worth using the free trial.

Seems that they have a modest discount on at the moment.
Play:1 is 149 everywhere so I've take the opportunity to use my Amex points to get another play:1 and another play:3. Got the whole house covered now

That's gotta be £600k worth?

I really like the look of the play:5's, haven't heard one and wondered what the stereo soundscape is like? I realise you could pair two but that's really on the pricey side. Is one enough for decent stereo seperation?

Edit: reread thread and 2 x play 3's would be better.

A different question - does anyone use Plex with a soundbar? I realise Plex can transcode DTS audio to stereo and that the Playbar doesn't support DTS. Just wondered if anyone experienced any issues?

Very impressed with my stereo pair of Play:3's.
They possibly lack midrange in comparison to my B&W's (DM603) but I've not got them ideally placed yet.

Correct, the soundbar doesn't support it - still get audio tho

They no doubt got a big discount , we supply a component for it. Still great gesture.

I'm loving mines only using it for music but best sound i've ever had in my house though i don't spend a lot on audio equipment.

I wouldn't conclude that two 3's are better than 1 5. Not now. Certainly used o be. But, you'll need to listen to decide. It's probably still likely, but the new 5 is incredible.

Two 3s still sound better than a new 5. Unless you really dislike stereo separation.

I've just realised I've not done Truplay with my pair of 3's yet...I'll give that a go and report back.

Truplay makes a big difference depending on the room.

Whilst we were developing the feature I found that it works best in smaller rooms.

No, they'll have better stereo separation. Whether they will sound better, richer, fuller is another argument.

Most reviews tend to conclude that the 5 is a generational leap forward. This chap preferred it to his "limp" pair of 3's. I think that's unfair on the 3 but it is getting on a bit.

I have them to listen myself at home and still think the paired 3s sound better.
