Wasn't giving this my full attention but thought it was pretty rubbish. Didn't seem believable from the off and DB's thing was always that he made it seem like it could be reasonable even though you know it isn't really.

Think he lost me with the Lottery thing, always been a fan of his and quite enjoyed his exposing fakes things but just can't get into his events now.

Wasn't even that great an achievement even if it was real; he wasn't going to go up until the stewardess more or less dragged him out of his seat to do it.

if anyone was genuinely in that situation (even though they stated it couldnt happen in real life) wouldnt you be asking the stewards why they couldnt do it ??

I think at one point Derren said the guy had bought a house and done a load of other things since the 30 days began.. but I'm sure the countdown suggested he was only about 2 weeks in at that time!

My thoughts exactly when I watched that bit. I'd also have been thinking "shouldn't there be a co-pilot?"

It also seemed a bit too good to be true that Derren could put the guy into a sudden deep hypnotic trance in about one second (unless he'd been hypnotising him before and used some kind of key word but I don't recall that been shown before)

I live on the cul de sac .....

I have only half watched the programme so may not be recalling things correctly but there are a few things I picked out.

I know some people think Matt is an actor....he isn't.

The party 'scene' was set up by the film crew and Matt knew this - it wasn't as per the programme. There were extras there.

Derren spoke at the end of the party to thank everyone on the street for putting up with the film crew (and asked for disclaimers to be signed). Matt was there then so the next sequence in the programme where he meets Matt for the first time since the auditions is not correct.

I'm not sure if Matt was aware of all the secret filming...we had seen the people carriers for a week or so before the party (they may have known Matt was at work so not been 'hiding' as much at those times).

I'm not sure that's true Craig. In the programme it's clear that the party was set up by the film crew. Do you mean they actually physically set it up with Matt's knowledge? I think the point was to get him to arrange it rather than do all the work.

When Derren said he met Matt for the first time, I assume he meant as far as Matt was aware, clearly he'd seen him loads. Was the party before that? Was Matt aware he was there? Perhaps they filmed that after the other scene.

It was all completely faked, none of it was real.

As with the last series, this promised lots but delivered little or nothing.

That was awful!

How do the bits of suggestion lead to a decision to break into a policeman's house and steal a van full of party poppers?! Not exactly positive steps forward in life.

Didn't buy into a single moment of that programme, though clearly I am too passive to turn it off before the cringe inducing end.

I enjoyed it a lot. Although he was not an actor i do think matt was "in on it" a lot more than was suggested. Not so much that his reactions weren't genuine, but i think he was aware that most of the events were part of the 'gameshow' so went along with it.

Derren's been doing some pretty hardcore hypnotism for *years* now - remember that scene where the student thought he was completely invisible? And where he got people to hold up an armoured van?

This was much the same stuff but re-purposed into what I thought was an excellent "feel good" bit of TV!

I thought the most implausible thing about it was if Matt was even half the loser that the show initially depicted him as, spending all his time watching TV in his bedroom, then god knows how he managed to hook up with such a cute GF!

Finally caught this and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. Just took it as a piece of entertainment, at face value and thought it was very life affirming/feel good tv, like Grandmaster says.

+1

don't buy the whole it was all faked. Having seen him live, it's amazing what he is capable of with suggestible people.

Maybe he's stepped up his game recently, but having seen him live (Something Wicked This Way Comes) I saw nothing that couldn't be (and I am sure was not) done with conventional magic techniques. He just dressed it up as something else with his presentation and showmanship; this is his skill. There was some hypnotism, but nothing integral to the trick itself. So for me seeing him live actually meant I stopped being interested in his shows
