Enid Blyton Short Stories

Ok a strange one this. I remember a story from my childhood that was about a little boy (I think) who had a bike for Christmas, but saw a child on a scooter whom he was jealous of so he swapped it. He later saw a child with a farmyard set whom he was jealous of so he swapped it etc etc. I think he ends up swapping his toy for a delicious drink, drinks it and has nothing.

Anyway I have searched my loft for the book but cannot find it not remember the title and would love to try and track it down or at least be able to reread teh story.

Anyone else out there with a memory of this?

You could try www.enidblyton.net - just found that on Google and there's a messageboard where you can post questions.

Also http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/a...ok-listing.php - a searchable database of all her books and stories.

Unfortunately the offical site which I am currently working on, blyton.com, can't help at the moment as it's a single holding page. Sorry.

She wrote hundreds (if not thousands) of short stories - good luck with this one!

Co-incidentally I remember an Enid Blyton short story from my childhood and - as with you - the book became lost. It was called something like Bobbo and the magic stocking - basically he was a naughty boy who sneaked onto Santa's sleigh where the good children went (to make a wish) and whereas they all wished for selfless things like sick people getting better and poor people having enough to eat, Bobbo wished for a magic stocking for himself that would spew out endless presents.

Obviously - to teach him a lesson - it ended up producing so much stuff that it filled up his house until he begged it to stop but it was a great story.

I've tried googling Bobbo but you just get a load of links to dimwit Yanks from the mid west!

Sounds like Bobbo's magic stocking which took me around 20 seconds to find typing into Google the words Bobbo, Santa, Christmas and Enid.

For future reference...

Cheers for that - it must have been a good few years since I last googled it (finding nothing) in fairness.
