But Dexter is not a crime procedural either, you glimpse weeky cases but that's not the focus of the show.

I found the supporting cast a little weak too. Doakes was the worst offender, Lt Laguerta did very little for me to believe she would actually be in charge of anything bigger than her kitchen, while Deborah wasn't too bad.

Dexter himself is just fantastic! The character more than makes up for the others.

This just pipped Heroes as my favourite new show of last year.

the first episode of season 2 has a 6 minute recap of s1, so no real need to rewatch s1.

Holy Hell! I just read some spoilers for the third book, let's all pray to God that the series doesn't follow suit. Hint, it all devolves into sci-fi fantasy cobblers, more detailed spoilers below.

so far there seems to be no relation between book 2 and series 2, other than the doakes stalking dexter bit.

Well third episode in (the first non-leaked one as well) and the series keeps going strong. I was truly worried about how the whole 'addiction' thing was going to be covered and if we'd just be getting lots of heart to hearts with Rita. But instead Dex seems to have finally got Stokes off his back, sorted things with Rita and has a funky new car to carry his victims in.

Sure he's got the top FBI profiler looking into his dumping ground but I'm sure that won't be a problem.

I hope FBI dude won't stay off Dexter's back, made the season kind of fun.

Will American shows stop hiring British people pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee, it's not racist, I just hate them. Unless they do a (good) American accent, then it's fine.

As for Lyla - maybe .. did seem weird at the end though, could just be insecurities by Darla, but I guess she doesn't exist as thats what all addicts go through (spoiler for every film/tv show that goes through this situation).

It's starting to annoy me as well. Boston Legal has done it and now this. But it just does not sit with me and kinda puts you off.

But enjoyed it and nice to have it back. Just so much TV to watch now

So then Rita's strange reaction at the end was due to there being no-one there?
Doesn't sound right to me.

Another possible plot could be that Lyla herself is a killer.

Lyla is clearly a killer too. I don't see how Rita's reaction would be to nothing, else she would have reacted oddly when he first pointed her out behind the other chap. I think the oddness was from them trying to make drama out of her seeing the attractive Lyla....

Got to agree about the English actors in US shows, the accents just seem wrong. For some reason I just wanted to shout "Get off the screen!" as stupid as that sounds and was in danger of ruining the episode for me.

However, working in car sales as I do I thought the salesman was pure class.
