Thumbs up Gemmel Fan: recommend me a new book/author

Need to find some holiday reading material now that:
-Gemmell is dead [and read all his stuff]
-Read Glen Cook's Black Company series 1-10
-George Martin is taking forever with the next book!!!!

Suggestions appreciated

Try the lovely new edition of Lankhmar by Fritz Leiber. It's the aces.

Joe Abercrombie I hadn't read any fantasy for years until I stumbled upon him and now I cant't get enough. This is very gritty and bloody briliant.

I'll second the Joe Abercrombie recomendation. Best author i've read after Gemmell for fantasy. I've also quite enjoyed the first couple of Steven Erikson books i've read but I'm struggling on the third.

Yep, read Joe Abercrombie's stuff recently, and really enjoyed it. Not as good as GRRM, but still strong and a perfectly decent gap filler.

Thanks. Saw "The Blade Itself" on someone's linkmania list on Amazon too and it seemed interesting.
Will give the trilogy a whirl.

I note Lankhmar goes to something like 18 stories?!
Mind you it is apparently in the style of Robert E Howard which I liked too so may well explore.

Thanks troops
