Jericho S02E04 *** SPOILERS ***

So this is why shows like Jericho don't have the mass appeal of 24, Lost etc.

Just a normal episode, progressing normally, and suddenly out of the blue rather than going to hide and/or give up the ledger, the deaf girl (completely out of character) turns into rambo.... complete with ultra sharp spider-senses, kills 4 agents and then gets shot up.

I am not kidding. Ravenwood bloke turns up to take some minor accounting info off that mimi woman at her house. Turns out the head bloke has nicked Ł5K of currency. So what?

Deaf girl answers the door, smiles sweetly says there's noone home, they run off to hide together, ravenwood man busts down the door, then we get this surreal spidey-sense bit with deaf girl blasting away with a shotgun, picking off trained ravenwood agents at will.

Completely and utterly bizarre.

I went straight online to see if anyone else in the states watching last night thought it was a bizarre twist but nope, they all thought it was amazing.

I've looked up the synopsis on epguide, or whatever it links to, and couldn't believe it!

Love this show, but this seems a bit too far fetched. Time will tell when I get around to seeing it.

No complaints here, thought it was a good episode & the scene in particular was very well done. Yeah it's over-the-top to expect her to take out so many military-trained, mercenary Ravenwood goons, but with a shotgun like that, you don't have to be that accurate to hit something. Your "spidey-sense" description is also far from the truth. With her deafness affliction, her heightened visual sense was just picking up changes in light/shadow to help aim at the bad-guys.

You also dismissed the stolen money (10k) crime as being petty. They had mentioned earlier in the episode that the Jennings Cooperation had a zero-tolerance to that kind of crime & with the Draconian laws that have kicked in, the Ravenwood leader would have been in deep ****.

Come on... it was ridiculous. Completely and utterly out of character. There were no guns involved until she pulled a shotgun out. I understand that it was trying to show her heightened sense of sight, but it felt utterly out of place.

If five armed men ran towards my house & kicked the door in like they did, i'd be more than happy to let rip with my shotgun at them!

In a world where mainstream US telly is incredibly predictable, you should embrace the occasional over-the-top, WTF! moments.

If they'd come guns out, then fair enough. Fact is they just wanted the ledger, it just smelled of "this actress has a new job, how the hell can we write her out in 1 episode".

Is this the first ep that Skyler (the girl) and the bar owner have been in this season, I don't remember them in the other eps.

If they just wanted to write Bonnie out, they'd have sent her to Cheyenne, not killed her. It's probably to push Stanley to join in with all the smuggling type stuff, since Ravenwood have killed his sister and shot up his fiancée.

Are these seven episodes going to round off the whole thing, or will there be more? I'm not sure even Hawkins could bring down an illegitimate government and restore the United States in the remaining two hours of screentime we have left

Ratings have been awful since it returned & another season is looking very bleak, so hopefully they have built in a resolution, but like you say, with only two episodes left, they've got a lot to do.

Will be interesting to see what the ratings were like for episode 4 as it wasn't leaked early (or were they released on dvd?) like the first 3. I think they pitched it against American Idol to start with too, which is pretty much going to guarantee any show poor ratings.

I enjoyed the episode, including the end scene. It didn't feel like it was a quick way to write her out, as wocko says, they could have done that easily anyway.

Think you completly missed the point.

1. Yes they they wanted the ledger.
2. It doesn't take 5 armed men to get a ledger.
3. The zero tolerance towards fraud meant Ravenwood wouldn't want there to be any evidence left.
4. Ravenwood already had a bad reputation with the town.
5. If you weren't guilty of the fraud you would of happily wanted till the following day to get the ledger.

Thought it was a very good episode and wasn't expecting them to kill of a charactor who they had set up to leave anyway.
