The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - Warner's 2-disc R1 SE

I got this yesterday and saw the movie just now. Like Adventures of Robin Hood and Casablanca, Warner have done an excellent job with The Treasure of the Sierra Madre set. The feature on disc 1 has a superb transfer of the classic film and the second disc and a huge variety of juicy extras. A really collectible set.

Nice to see that other sudios are also taking up the job. MGM's presentation 2-disc R1 SE presentation of Some Like it Hot or AV Channel's R4 2-dsc SE of Double Indemnity (better than R1 or R2).

Very interesting. In what way is it better? Picture quality, "extras" . . .? Incidentally, where and how is it available?

The extras. Take a look at this Rewind comparison.

Although rewind gives a 'draw' between the R1 & R4 SEs, you can see that the R4 extras are much more pertinent to the original film and its era of film noir. I am not a fan of a Special Edition including a remake of the film or a colourised version. IMO, the extras should be relevant to the original film.

PS: I got mine off e-bay.
