The R2 Ultimate reissue was still missing the commentaries on II and III though. I just bought the region 1 set after waiting years for a fixed version. This is a bit annoying but then again I don't have Blu-Ray and they really seem to be leaving stuff out of DVD releases now.

The Digital Bits has just updated with this:

Quote:
[EDITOR'S UPDATE - 1/5/10 - 3 PM: Sources we checked with at Universal initially informed us that they believed the sellsheet to be authentic, which is why we addressed the issue early this morning. However they've just gotten back to us again this afternoon with word that the sheet IS fake. The reason it was thought to be authentic is that it was based on an authentic sellsheet for the recent DVD re-release, so the formatting was authentic. Regardless, we're made to believe that the title IS currently planned for Blu-ray Disc release later in 2010 - another factor that added to the confusion. So to summarize, the sellsheet is fake but the title is, in fact, real. Official announcements will reportedly be made in the months ahead. So just be patient and rest assured that we'll post updates as they come in, and official details when the announcements are finally made. In the meantime, we hear that ZonaDVD has already patted themselves on the back for their ingenuity, though we're not sure the incident enhances their reputation. We will admit, however, that a Jaws 19 3D short is EXACTLY the kind of silly thing we could see a studio coming up with to include on a new release like this, so give the some artist credit! In any case, despite the initial confusion, we've (finally!) gotten to the bottom of the issue here at The Bits. So there you go.]

Heh. 'Ultimate Edition' indeed. And the dts audio (which folk liked to brag about at the time) can't rescue what is an underwhelming 5.1 mix, and I also have the same concerns about the inevitable lossless track on the Blu-ray.

Alas, Jaws 19 3D, we hardly knew ye.

Watching BTTF2 right now on SkyMdngrtsHD. Looks pretty good and the eventual Blu-ray should look even nicer.

I'm sure the Blu's will look fine as long as Universal don't do a Gladiator with them, but I hope to **** they sort out the warbling audio on Part 2.

When I mentioned this at the HTF I had an email asking for specific details from someone claiming to represent Bob Gale, so fingers crossed it's been sorted. I've still got my laserdisc because I just cannae stand the audio on the DVD.

the 5.1 mix on BTTF was seriousley lacking LFE when he turns on the mega amp at the start there's hardley nothing you'd expect a real rumble. Hopefully the blu will fix this.

This.

I've been checking The Bits for years now (although I tuned out during the format war) and while Hunt does get some juicy stuff, his willingness to go out on a limb regarding his "sources" can backfire spectacularly.

All he ever said was "Here's the sheet" and we already know it's coming anyway. Then he said his sources confirmed it. Assuming he's telling the truth he hasn't been fooled at all, it's his sources that were fooled. Either way, it's coming out this year anyway so no one has been fooled.

No, he was a FOOL. Spin it how you like. "Industry sources" would have told him instantly that the sell sheet was a load of hooey. His "industry sources" all reside in his head or other environs on his person, if you get my meaning. The simple inability to apologize in this generation of the Internet is astonishing and appalling, not necessarily in that order.

Maybe he's a big fat liar, but given the lack of evidence I'd take him at his word. Industry sources could mean anything, they may have only casually assessed the sheet.

Lack of evidence? He was wrong. Period. What other evidence do you need? But you are obviously a Bill Hunt apologist, so that's fine. He has no insider information that is worth anything if they didn't shoot this flyer down within ten seconds of looking at it. No release sheet EVER doesn't have a specific street date on it. Even a complete and total idiot knows that.

The gigantic 'Includes Jaws 19 in 3D' part of the sheet should have told him it was a load of hooey!

The fact it was published on December 28th by Zonadvd (or whatever they're called) should have been enough to set alarm bells ringing. AFAIK they do something like this every year (it's the Spanish equivalent of April Fools Day)

I forget...

Was Bill Hunt the chap that used to regularly, deftly and boldly announce that HD DVD was, in fact, winning the format war and that a HUGE title announcement was on the cards...more-or-less every month until TOSH pulled the plug?

I may be wrong and if I am then unreserved appologies to him.

Hunt was the exact opposite.
