They've surely got to finally release the restored version that Zemeckis was talking about a while back, what with it being the film's 25th anniversary this year and all.

In my top three for most wanted. Although I can't see what they would do with two discs worth of extras. One of the few sets that i watched all the extras and listened to all the commentaries.

Universal has apparently been doing some extensive work on this release, and the Jurassic Park trilogy too. Spielberg's insistence that these new editions do more than just bump up the picture and sound.

How about this:

3 discs - the films, in HD with the commentaries, perhaps some extras
1 disc - most of the extras, so that they can break the boxset up at a later date - perhaps even have the extras on a DVD ala Hellboy 2
1 disc - digital copies.

OR

Disc 1 (BD) Back to the Future
Disc 2 (DVD) Back to the Future Bonus Material from here
Disc 3 (BD) Back to the Future, Part II
Disc 4 (BD) Back to the Future, Part III
Disc 5 (BD or DVD) New Extras, or Digital Copies

If I was making the set, it would be how you evisage it. If I were a studio, it would be how I've envisaged it.

Maybe I'm just getting jaded...

Wouldnt it be a balls up of epic proportions if they went to all this trouble and messed up the cropping of part II again!

Not really news though, it's well known that bttf has been in production for a while, they even showed the hd masters to fans

Bit late for that, i'm sure the box set was in sainsbuy's for £5 recently. IIRC they re-released the set to fix the problems with the first so if you have the original set it's probably almost worthless. I didn't even bother buying bttf on dvd

Yeah I think most would be lucky to get £5 for the set. It is damn hard to shift DVDs and HD DVDs, heck i even have some Blus that I can't seem to sell.

on the plus side it's great if you want to buy stuff. A few years ago amazon or play would be my first port of call, now it's ebay

I've been selling my DVDs and whatnot on Play since Feb last year. I've made an average of £150 a month since, and I've taken a few squid on Amazon too. Your pricing has got to be realistic (i.e. cheap) but that's the way the market is.

My set is the original American release that had all the extra features to begin with, and Universal US were kind enough to swap over the misframed discs back in the day, so it's as complete as can be. It's even got a shiny slipcase, which will no doubt appeal to someone out there.

UK was missing stuff originally but did have DTS, but if it was like the DD mix then it was probably pants. I have a vague recollection of the R2 being reissues with a extra disc that had the missing Q&A sessions that were on the R1, I think they called the the Ultimate BTTF set or something.
