ITVHD on Sky HD with new EPG

Just found out about this from a friend. I haven't got the new EPG yet (Anyone know how to force an update?), but it is possible to watch ITVHD on a Sky HD box.

Apparantly

27.5

Channel 10510

from what I've read its not possible to set up a recording.

I've read countless posts on other forums about this but can I get it to work, can I heck!

I have got the new EPG (had it a few weeks) but when I change the settings to those above and press OK, nothing happens. Channel 10510 does not feature on the manually add channels bit after I've done the above.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe you can't force a download of the new EPG it will come when Sky send it to you.

Yeah, watching ManYoo via this, with my Sky EPG being upgraded last week. The picture's great but I feel somewhat dirty praising ITV's picture quality!

No doubt makes the SD picture look even worse - I'm not checking to find out either.

Services > System set up > Add Channels >

Frequency type in 11427

Polarisation change to H

Symbol Rate stays @ 27.5

Fec stays as 2/3

Then press find channels, when you have the new software you will then see the channel listed as 10510 ( not ITV HD ).

Press yellow to save it , press select , press select.

Then to view the channel:

Services > Other Channels > and then chose 10510 from the list.

ITV's sd picture is terrible...

Especially considering it must be from a HD source.

Their HD is fine...only thing it lacks is DD...which is very effective on footie games.

Sky's directional sound is ace. Really jarrs when you compare it to their stereo sd channel.

ITV HD is poor quality compared to something like BBC HD, but still way better than their standard channel!

The quality is fine...

No quibbles with ITV's HD quality.

Stereo sound though, which is a little behind the times compared to everyone else.

They showed Jurassic Park 3 the other night and compared to the films shown on BBC HD it was poor. But like I said, still better than standard ITV1.

I find BBC HD a disappointment a lot of the time - especially on their Sports coverage which always looks flat compared to Sky.

Sky probably have better encoders. Film wise I've always thought BBC HD is pretty good.

Ooo I can try adding this tonight

It may only work when there is actually a HD programme being shown. It's not an actual TV channel but a Red Button Service on Freesat.

It's like that most of the time.. it only kicks in when ITV are broadcasting something HD (Champions League Football etc)

If you go over to the Freesat website you can checkout a ITV HD schedule - dont get too excited.

Dont have Sky Sports so cant comment but have to say I find the films on BBCHD are outstanding and better than Sky's movie channels.

To me I would say the films on Sky look like they do when I watch an upscaled DVD, where as on BBCHD they really look outstanding.

Should also add that the made in HD programs that are shown in HD on Sky1HD (Lost etc) look a lot better then there films do, so I can only presume there film channels have a lower bit rate

Is there anyway that this can be added as a Favourite, or can I only navigate my way to this channel through the Other Channels function?
