Look up the ep1 in s1 where he eats the hottest curry in nyc. Very very funny.

Yeah but I seem to remember you thinking 12 stone was over-weight! He looks anorexic compared to most Americans.

I'm not an expert on the program but in the handful of ep's I've seen he clearly eats more than 2000 calories a day.

There was something about him in the Guardian the other week, apparantly between shows he's a strict vegan and works out. I've never seen a fat vegan, so it must cancel it out to some degree.

Yeah don't vegan's usually have an adverse reaction when they start eating meat and dairy products again? The stomach takes a little while to adjust. He must really have an iron gut.

I just watched the new one where he has to eat 4 pounds of pancakes.

Not vegan but vegetarian.

I have mixed feelings about the increasingly popular cable show Man Vs Food. I like the concept: one man traverses the nation shining a spotlight on eateries that serve up vast towering heaps of artery-blocking comfort food and guzzles down as much as is humanly possible. I like the guy: comfortably-built host Adam Richman has a genuine and infectious slob-of-the-people appeal and shows no fear of hurling himself into the unknown every time he tears into the giant masses of food taking up most of the table in front of him. I like the thundering climax where he volunteers to eat the biggest, hottest, most medically-inadvisable dish the house has to offer for the privilege of having his face on their Wall Of Fame. But there comes a point towards the end of every episode where I get a little uneasy. Whether he's in Vegas eating a burrito the size of a Dalmatian or in Texas guzzling his way through chilli so brutal it has caused nosebleeds or in a New York curry house where he's issued with protective gloves so his skin remains scorch-free, Richman's power-eating gradually stops being fun. It usually stops for him when he gets halfway through his mammoth dish and the sweat is gushing so profusely, he's no longer able to see. His face is deathly pale; it pains him to draw breath. When this happens - and it happens every episode - the crowd of restaurant regulars and staff cheer and encourage him to clean his plate. But I know a couple of things about Adam Richman. I know he works out like a ******* before and after every episode. I know when he's not doing the show he maintains a strictly vegetarian lifestyle. I don't know that all the regulars in the diners and restaurants he visits are similarly vigilant. When Adam Richman's back to his broccoli and his StairMaster, they'll still be shovelling down food. Which isn't to say I won't be watching when he takes on the 12-egg omelette challenge.
That is a very, very odd thing! Makes the show even more

Ep 1 in S1 was in Amrillo in Texas, not nyc.

I'm both glad and disappointed they don't do food eating challenges like this in the UK. In reasonable portions the food looks really nice. The worst/best food he as tried to eat is the 12 pound stacked up Eagle burger in Boston. 12 pound! That's a cannon ball in your stomach only not as densely packed!
Just seen that burger the size of a baR Stool that he eats, the sasqwatch burger or something, the buns are literally the size of bar stool seats.

No surprise he couldn't finish it though.

For anyone under 5ft 8in it is overweight, 14st would be obese at that height.

That didn't really answer my question. Why are you talking about being less than 12months old?

Just going through S1 & 2 of this. My fave scene so far I think has to be watching Joey Chestnut (he of Coney Island Hot Dog eating fame) try to take on one of Adam's challenges. Think it was a massive burrito or something.

Joey Chestnut seems to be able to swallow and take the next bite at the same time!

The show does get a bit samey (although we're hammering through the eps) but the most annoying thing is when he visits a city we visited last year (DC, NYC, Boston) it really makes me wish we knew about these places beforehand!
