Can you use Skype with just webcam with sound and not a headset.

I need to be able to use Skype with a webcam but have sound too, I don't want to have to use a headset, how do I do this if it can be done. Do I need a special webcam for Skype that has an inbult microphone too.

I have 2 webcams now but tried both with Skype and didnt seem to work in the test call but there both cheapo ones off Ebay.

Buy a webcam that has a mic built into it or buy a standalone microphone (a desktop one rather than a headset).

Any webcam with a mic built in should be fine. Just installed a cheap Logitech at my parents' last night and that worked fine. You might need to select the correct audio input from the Skype settings, that is all.

I don't believe you.

You're up to no good aren't you? Your bringing some kind of sordid carry-on into the forums.

Having just setup up a conference system at work is audio feedback. We needed it to allow customers to join conferences so had little control on the equipment they would be using. Quiet often the customer would use a Webcam with Mic and then the PC loudspeakers, this caused bad feedback and echo's.

Amen to that, My wife and I have tried to set up webcam with both sets of parents so they can talk to our son. Of course, they don't want to use headsets and our little one can't, so it's just nothing but feedback.

I use skype with both a laptop and desktop, with and without separate microphone on the camera, feedback has never been more than a temporary issue, you simply have to turn the volume down a tad generally at both ends - the hardest part is getting her parents to accept that the feedback is caused by them having the speakers too loud. Most modern microphones are designed to reduce feedback.
