What's happend to Nintendo DS?

I haven't touched the DS in ages and when I finally picked it up again it had the case crack problem which sucks but it reminded me that nobody even mentions the DS any more despite it remaining one of the biggest global sellers in software and hardware. I can't recall when I last saw a thread for a DS exclusive, maybe Zelda but that fizzled quickly. I don't even know what's been released in the past year or two. Seems odd considering they were considered gaming crack a few years back, now no one even mentions them.

The DS XL has only just come out and the DS 3D is on the horizon. I only play Animal Crossing Wild World on mine.

I've got one for Civ Rev, Mario Kart (until the red haze takes over and I have to put it down), Advance Wars, Super Mario World and Zelda.

Other than Scribblenauts I can't think of any DS exclusives worthy of a thread, once the 3DS appears I'm sure we'll have the usual Nintendo love in for a while until we tire of the launch titles and the post launch deadzone appears.

I still see people playing them on a regular basis and most of the parents I know have bought each child at least one DS so I'm sure it's going strong outside of the gaming enthusiast.

i can't wait until i start Miles edgeworth, that series has its own thread, as does prof layton.

else, its mostly puzzle games, not sure there is too much to discuss about something like Rooms, which is the new one being advertised.

I play mine every day on the train, mostly japanese puzzle games which you can just play for a few minutes at a time.

Next big game that'll be worth playing is Ghost Trick.

Now my PSP, on the other hand, is something I haven't turned on in well over a year.

Lack of good software releases I reckon. Probably due to the ease of copying games.

I keep checking metacritics DS release list each week but I don't think there's been a title to take my interest this year.

I've got a few strategy games I keep playing on occasion though: Civ Rev, Advance Wars/Fire Emblem, Anno 1404

Only got a DS at christmas but already i'm seeing a similar release pattern to the Wii, one huge release on average every 4/6 months + a zillion awful games released inbetween.

I've almost completed 3D Picross & look forward to the next big release, Dragon Quest IX later this month.

Every time i think about getting one, they go an announce a 'better' version so I end up waiting for that. I am currently waiting to see what the 3D one is like.

Haven't hand-helds been somewhat stealth overtaken by the iphone and other smartphones? I know i can play games on my phone if need too on the train and nothing on the DS looks actually good enough to play at home where I have the consoles or PC. I couldn;t tell you where my PSP is, let alone the last time it was on.

I only bought mine because of the emmulation programs for it. I use it more for zx spectrum games than DS ones.

I've not played my DS in a fair while either, very much agree with the comments about there being 1 or 2 great releases sandwiched between 50 games which are of no value whatsoever every 6 months. Its a big turn off for me, sometimes less is more imo...whatever happened to the "Nintendo Seal of Quality".

Metal Gear as well which should be right up MetalGearAI's street. Its scoring 88 over at Metacritic and IGN gave it 95% saying its "insanely deep" and "a masterpiece", can't say I've picked it up yet but I'll be all over it when I have a bit of spare cash.

The Isometric ones play very well, and the beat em ups too, Target Renegade etc. Adventure games are playable too, but obviously slow to type in using for example the onscreen keyboard using ZXDS:

http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html#ds

The DS's top screen fits the speccy screen perfectly, and the bottom screen is used for the keyboard, you can flick beween a superb looking rubber keys one or the zx+

The shoot em ups are good too, there's no noticeable slow down with ZXDS, and the games load up either instantly or within a few seconds.

With ZXDS you can re-define any key to the DS's buttons, even during a game too.

Hm, could give Batman + Head Over Heels a go on it, provided the controls are responsive enough.
