Having solved 152 puzzles I'm now in the same position I was (and indeed still am) with the first game: one final sliding block puzzle to do. Which seems impossible! The rest of the game was fun though, with another well put together story and top-notch animation.

I must try the passwords in the first and second games later.

I'm playing through this as well and absolutely loving it. On about puzzle 60 or something.

I've also got the Curious Village sitting in my 'to be played' pile. Can't wait!

The Curious Village was definitely better, though perhaps you should have played them the other way around as I believe the 2nd game completely spoils the story of the 1st?

Yeah, I know I started the sequel first but it was a Xmas present, and the Curious Village only turned up yesterday... the other half is still playing through the Broken Sword game!

It is very hard. I found it best to break it into mini objectives, of which there are about eight IIRC.
