New Enemy of the State DVD

Has anyone bought this? Is the transfer any better than the original version, that was riddled with edge enhancement, compression artefacts and bad lip-sync? Any info would be appreciated.

I've got the old R2 release - and apart from a lack of extras it's a cracking disk - I thought everything picture and sound wise was really good

I used to have the old version and have replaced it with the new one. I can't say I noticed anything wrong with either of them and certainly not on the new version.

I thought it was the R1 with the dodgy pic and sound?

well i personally thought the transfer to the original region 2 was below standard, too sharp, and plenty of compression artefacts, and was just wondering if the new version was any better.

There is A LOT of edge enhancement. I expect this is the same transfer as the previous release. The extras are nothing to gloat over, but they're better than nothing (obviously), and also have a bunch of deleted scenes not available on the R1 version. Worth buying if you don't already own the earlier release.

Bit of a thread resurrection this but will it was high up in my google results for the issue!

I just watched the DVD, the old one I think (this version: http://www.pricedemon.co.uk/DVDDetail/mfno1020389) and the lip sync is terrible in places! Was it definitely sorted in the newer DVD (which I assume is this one: http://www.pricedemon.co.uk/DVDDetail/mfno1052502) and/or the blu-ray?

Everyone here just seemed to be in denial that the original was bad!

I remember my R2 version had lip-sync problems,I tried 2 or 3 discs but they were all the same so I ended up getting the R1 version.
I have the Blu Ray and there is no lip-sync problems with that.

The Bluray isn't bad quality at all but I remember my DVD being bloody awful! Lots of EE and bad compression artefacts.

It's amazing how far we've come!

Thanks guys, I have now read some pretty good reviews of the blu-ray. I tend not to be one for upgrading my dvd's to blu-ray.
In fact I mostly still buy DVD's because they're cheaper and after the first 2 minutes when I've settled into the film I stop looking at the quality difference.
But the DVD I have for this is truly awful! So I think I'll make an exception here.

Is it worth getting the extended version? I also would like to know if the newer R2 DVD is better than the original. The R1 extended got good reviews, but I can't find any reviews for R2.
