I'm seriously worried that we'll get an origin story in flashbacks throughout the series
Really not liking it so far, as I have zero feeling for any of the characters

Almost guaranteed on that even though the 2 parts are a origin story.

Here's something interesting. A few people on Reddit have done some Photoshops to add hair to the new Klingons, and it's surprising what a difference it makes. They look far closer to the "classic" Klingons.

People on Reddit have far too much free time.

Watched the second episode yesterday. Decent acting, superb production values & effects, but again, the periodic five minute Klingon rants with subtitles is incredibly tedious & just sounds like someone angrily trying to cough up a furball.

'After Trek' was kinda dreadful. Pretty much the same format as Talking Dead, but the host is really irritating.

The device I viewed it on didn't pick up the subtitles. Imagine how tedious that was!
I've worked it out now.

The Klingons speak far too slowly. It makes them sound like it's not their first language

I agree he didn't do too great, but he does a brilliant TNG recap podcast (Star Trek: The Next Conversation) that's really worth a listen.

Surely the subtitles were hard coded into the video ??

I doubt it, how'd that work for foreigners?

The Klingon bits were tedious, I didn't pay enough attention and I actually have no idea why the klingons attacked the Federation, feel I should watch again

It seems to be because the lead angry Klingon got the **** kicked out of him as a kid & he's got a massive inferiority complex.

If you can't speak Klingon then you're not a real trek fan

Didn't really feel like I was watching Trek but I enjoyed the first two.

Notice Sarek is played by Audrey's ex-husband in 24.

Was it real Klingon? It never sounded like it. I guess it was.

The whole thing seems just to be a massive story arc, I don't mind them so much, but you want a few other stories running as well.

The Klingons speaking Klingon sounded like the apes speaking English in PotA.

Not a Trekkie but wondered whether Sarek & Amandas love story could form part of it, are we in the right time frame for that?

The show takes place 2 years after the TOS Pilot - The Cage.

Was great but the Klingon species all sounded like they are false teeth.

No .

As dataloss says we are at about the same time as The Cage so Spock is already in Star Fleet so we are decades past when Sarek met Amanda
