[QUOTE=zantarous;10283390]Well that was bloody fantastic, was into it from the moment it started, that last 15 seconds of the opening theme, goosebumps.

Same here, thought it was awesome...nice to be back with old school Klingon action (albeit funnier looking ones) than the high minded approach taken by some of the more recent tv spinoffs.

Well that was surprising, mainly as I was sort of expecting it to be carp.

Also didn't expect it to be a continuous series rather than a simple 45-minute self-contained episodic format.

Hopefully the quality keeps up.

Hopefully, as well, they stop calling her Michael as it sounds really stupid. I know the showrunner has a "thing" with doing it with women and mens names but it sounds odd doing it the other way round*.

Glad its not Star trek of some people's youth as the series need a kick up the arse after the awful and bland voyager and Enterprise (s1 to 3)

Having the commander called Michael is weird but as mentioned the showrunner has a "thing" about it also Klingons still look weird

I thought in ep 2

Minor tribbles quibbles but hope they can keep the quality up, also split into 2 part season

Not sure what to make of it yet. Episode 3 looks like it might be better,.

I noticed straight away the Klingons had difficulty speaking with the fake teeth. I even saw the teeth wobble once or twice. It made those scenes too long.

I also don't get why the lead is called Michael? Michelle would have been better.

More importantly I'm not sure why the lead argues with her captain on the bridge and then assaults her and performs a mutiny all in the first episode. Are we supposed to like this character? Also I'm not really sure there is any coming back from that.

Star Trek is back!

I've only watched the first episode so far but I loved it. The visuals and effects are awesome. It's paced well (after a slightly site start establishing the characters) and it's tense. The characters interest me and having Michelle Yeoh as a guest star is a treat.

Also, I really enjoyed the much younger Starfleet with earlier versions of classic tech and vocabulary, as well as equipment that's closer to ours

To me, this show is a definite hit. Star Trek is back on the small screen and I'm glad.

Really looking forward to watching episode 2 later today..

And after 7 years of presumably loyal service to be considered for command too.

I spoiler this bit in case no one has seen episode 2.

Enjoyed it - far better opening episodes than any 80s or 90s Trek series.

Watched the 2 available so far and it's a good start! Production values are cracking. Not sure on the cast yet, although much better than I was expecting.

Looking forward to more.

Enjoyed it, Burnham appears to be unstable. Episode 3 should be interesting as we get to see a different ship and somewhat new cast going forward.

For those interested. There is a tie in novel that is set one year before the first 2 episodes and is also set one year after the original Star Trek Pilot the cage. The differences in Ship Design and Uniforms is explained and the Original Captain Pike lead crew including Spock interact with the Shenzhou crew.

Very pleasantly surprised about this.

Thought Sonequa Martin-Green was excellent. Only downside is that apart from Doug Jones as Saru (Science Officer), and Michelle Yeoh as the captain, the rest of Star Fleet were pretty un-rememberable, but suppose this could be changed with a revamped crew when the Discovery becomes the focus.

As others have said a much stronger start that the other Trek's first episodes and so much better than the new/re-boated film series which despite a good first film has deteriorated into lazy Trek stories at an alarming rate.

Can't fault the production values & visuals & always great to hear the classic Trek sound-fx. Good performance from the lead actress although her character is a little annoying so far, but hopefully her attitude will grow on me.

Writing was generally ok with obviously lots of exposition to get you up to speed with the main characters. Not so keen on the abundant Klingon-speak & I wasn't impressed with their new look or any of the Klingon characters. Also their ship designs was just ugly & we need the return of the Birds-of-Prey design ASAP! ... Thankfully the Federation ships looked ok.

Overall, it's got potential & glad it's back...

Full of cliched dialogue at the beginning but was getting into it by the end.

Glad to see a ghost comment, missed them! You should obviously be watching Dr Who not Star Trek
