the riker holodeck was the choice of Braga (who was long term ST showrunner) as a F U to the season 4 writers. The guy was burned out old hack

I wonder how difficult it would be to re-edit the season 4 finale to remove all the Riker and Troi stuff. Leave in the bit where Riker is the Chef as we never see the chef and he could be a distant Riker Relation.

Then add some new footage get Bakula back and do his speech in full and then switch to Romulus where they are watching the speech live and decide to launch an attack. Archer's speech ends with words of hope for the future, the last shot is that of the Romulan Armada going into warp.

Holodeck and Replicators where not my favorite points and provided only a few decent story-lines The ones with Moriarty where the best of the bunch.

The worst idea in TNG was having a ship full of families what military organisation would build ships to hold 1000's of non Star fleet personnel.

How are officers and crew are supposed to operate effectively in a crisis if little Johnny is in classroom on C deck and the ship is under attack? What if the ship is destroyed whole families are wiped out.

If star fleet is gone surely this would be the perfect opportunity to have a ship entirely run by ghosts.

Unrelated to Discovery, but a new TNG episode has been written by a predictive bot (much like the recent Harry Potter story). The results are hilarious.

Some of my favourites:

Quote:
Opening credits:
Space. What is the point of it? You have no idea. This is the Enterprise: a big circle with a porch. I'm the Captain Picard. Come with me!

Cue main theme. The Enterprise zips and zaps at the screen for two hours.
Quote:
Riker: You think I need your help, Mister Data? I'm the first officer ever to convince a planet to explode, and I look forward to doing it again.

Q turning into a tractor was mine.

people on reddit are suggesting people take the script to conventions and try to get the cast to read it

The software algorithm is available if you want to have a go yourself. It's human-assisted predictive text with TNG words in it's library.

Here's my first attempt:
Space. The first love. These are the missions of picard ( softer ) data and alexander. It's a very good time. We go!

Really good episode, also noticed a parallel to the klingon attacks to the terrorists attack that affect the world today.

So glad they didn't do the whole reset button cliche. Someone mentioned about not having a captain with questionable morals, now they have one that will rip and tear every klingon

Also enjoyed this weeks and thought it a very strong episode.

However let down a bit once again by the shows “get out of jail card”, those bloody spores - again!

Hope there is another season, but really hope that the word “spore” is NEVER again spoken in another Star Trek episode!!

Spore drive aside, the weirdest thing in Star Trek was Data's inability to manage the simple loop
Code:
If ($word == "cannot"){
   $word = "can\'t";
**
Which worked until the Forums pages **'d out "squiggly brackets" for some reason

Yeah and you remember how easily Data could do Picard’s own voice in ‘Brothers’, as the actor can in real life actually, it makes it even more dubious.

Hey, cut him some slack. Even Worf couldn't manage it, and he's a living being!

I know it is early but my prediction for season 2 is that Lorca (Prime Universe Lorca) survived in the Mirror Universe with the aid of Mirror Harry Mudd.

Have I just spore-drived to the Reddit forum by mistake?!?

After last week's barnstormer of an episode, this week felt like the calm before (hopefully) a big Klingon storm finale...
