Ahaha

Pretty boring episode unfortunately.

Yes, thought this week's was pretty dull, and I liked last week's! Without Negan, I think the Saviours have no real threat - don't think that moustachioed fella is all that threatening.

Love Maggie's tractor action!

Glad to see Jesus back. Is that a proper grown beard this time? Or just more realistic looking?!

Enjoyed this week's episode even if it was a bit slower. Gradually seeing all the different threads. Proper grown beard and hair for Jesus according to talking dead.

I actually enjoyed this week's episode more than any of the previous four. I'm not sure if it's just me but I don't find Negan at all interesting as a character and I'm not at all enamoured with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance. It's just a shallow and camp cartoon performance as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully, as the series goes on we'll see more about the character to at least give some reason why he is the way he is.

I'd rather he was just a nasty sod than the typical series of unfortunate events, bad childhood, lost his family, had some hard times etc....

I don't want to see that either! Just because I would like a bit more depth than the show is currently giving, doesn't mean I want them to trot out a load of cliched backstory. However, if someone was just a nasty sod no one would follow him or carry out his wishes at all. There has to be more to him and I would like to see it.
However, I am getting picky now though because I am finding the show a bit of chore to get through. It's just treading water by repeating the plots of previous series and I am hoping they can provide something new.

Can't believe the negativity of this thread! Am I the only one loving every moment of the show and this season so far?

This episode was ok, watchable enough, but waaaay below top TV standards.

The biggest thing is that the plotting and character actions aren't surprising in any way. It feels like the worst kind of made by committee writing that is primarily driven by "what will our audience be wanting & expecting"

I'm expecting next episode to be about Rick and his group going on their 'run' and somehow connecting with Carol or the Tiger fella. Leaning towards the later as they could then string out the meeting of Rick and Carol for a few more episodes, given we'd need another Daryl episode in between. They'll almost certainly have to be saved by the Tiger fella as well.

How hard is it to look at Game of Thrones and realise that multi-strand narratives are far more enjoyable when weaved together every episode?

I'm intrigued as to how Jesus and Carl are going to get away without being caught. Jump out at the right time before getting inside the walls with no idea on the surroundings to hide behind? Wait until the truck is conveniently just left alone when it arrives in a secluded area?

Forgot about them. They'll be another episode with just them and Daryl. They'll try and convince him to leave but he eventually won't as will appear to have been broken. Eventually (2nd half of season) he'll come back, probably saving or causing someone to die in the process but allowing Negan to be the main plot driver in S8 as well.

I can honestly see everything you've written in your two posts coming true.

The show is back to strong opening/closing start of the season and mid season then very weak episodes (generally)

Hope we get a episode of Rick looking for Coral

Corrrrrrallll, Corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaallllllllllllllll!

I must have missed something in Episode 1 - when did it say that Maggie was going to the Hilltop?

That's where they were going to begin with, to see the doctor. At the very end of episode one, Sasha said she'd stay with Maggie and make sure she got there.

Ah, so way in the last episode of the last series.

No wonder I didn't remember

In a month where I have had a massive cull of shows I watch I have dropped arguably better or at least more consistent shows than this, however for some reason I can't seem to not watch this even though this weeks has to be a low point (I actually didn't mind last weeks that much)

The writers need to realise that this is not Game of Thrones. GoT can get away with having a week or so away from certain characters as all it's characters are strong and people we seem to care about. This weeks walking dead decides to go off and tell a story about yet another minor character, one so minor it's like when you watch episode 4 of The Apprentice and notice someone who you swear was not in the previous 3 episode. It again takes the best part of an hour to go nowhere really. Why they can't write the show to tell a couple of stories each week is beyond me, this weeks and lasts could easily have been combined.

Its because the writers are not very good and lack imagination. I would have had Negan killed within a few episodes, had Rick take over as leader and start a new imaginative storyline about the start of rebuilding civilisation, clearing the Zs and not another dull bad guy of the season show.

I keep watching because I have invested many hours into the previous seasons but I am very close to dropping this.

After a minute or two of 'who are these people again?' I quite enjoyed that episode, Tara acted believably, didn't get suckered into believing they were going to help her - although the full disclosure of the outpost murdering was a bit contrived to link the stories. The WI acted believably and consistently, not taking a chance by letting Tara go - although thought it was daft that they started unleashing shot guns and automatic rifles within the confines of their camp so readily with children running around.

I guess this and last week's episode could have been shortened and merged, but now we are slowly building up the number of communities who could rally against Negan.
