Oh yeah! I forgot that with American God's they listed 4K separately. I just clicked on the main Jack Ryan banner ad and it gave me the 1080p stream. I'll have a look on my TV later.

Stupid way of doing it IMO.

Finished Jack Ryan last night. Overall I enjoyed it but it was a bit cliched and I didn't like at then end how Jack was seeing what Suleiman was up to and nobody else had a clue when it was reasonably obvious.

Yeah, I think they don't have the infrastructure to handle everyone streaming their 4K output, so they deliberately hide it away.

Annoyingly, when I was watching ep.5 last night, it struggled to remain in 4K & would drop to what looked like DVD quality at random moments. I've had that several times with the likes of Goliath & Sneaky Pete too. I never have that issue with 4K Netflix content...

Oh & forgot to mention that The Purge TV series is now available through Amazon Prime as of yesterday.

Only a 1080P version available but it looks really good, however that means it highlights more, how low-budget the show actually is. I've never watched the movies but was curious to give it a go.

Was not impressed. Poor acting & dialogue, lame direction & low production-values hurt what is an interesting concept...

I'm baffled by the popularity of the movies. Whilst the concept is decent, the execution is very lacking. Especially the first one which is absolute tosh.

Not so much a recommendation but has Popcornflix on Roku stopped working for anyone else?

They just had an update and some films worth watching have been added, but for the last three weeks the app starts then says loading and quits back to the home screen.

However on the Roku home screen there are sometime ads for movies; there was one for Popcornflix which when clicked started the movie no problem but I am still unable to load the app.

Anyone having the same issue? Roku Forums are useless.

So Burt Reynolds RIP. Looked up what he did that seems good that I haven't seen. Found a movie called Mystery, Alaska from 1999 that also stars Russell Crowe and is a comedy with 6.7 on imdb and written by Richard E Kelly.

Sounds worth a watch to me and looks like it is on Netflix (if a quick web search has got it right).

I saw Mystery, Alaska back on early DVD I think, not bad, seemed as much a romance as a comedy but lighthearted fun for all that. Kevin Durands in it too if IRC.

I wish they would spend money on new content rather than making these videos that advertise re-up of movies that have previously been on the service Hard to get excited over Contagion, Superbad and Goonies etc which have all been on before. Seems like they are just trying to polish the same old crap

Erm they spend more money on original content then anyone else 13 billion alone for this year.

A trailer done by the trainee video editor probably cost bugger all.

New content is well and good, there is plenty of it to keep a sub going. But sometimes you want to kick back and watch The Goonies, rather than learning new characters names in a new series or second rate film.
